Explore the Nissan Magnite 2021 Base Variant
Meet the all-new Nissan Magnite 2021. This article focuses on its base variant, called Xie. The Magnite comes in a total of four variants and offers eight different color options. For the base Xie variant, you can choose between two colors: silver and white.
The Nissan Magnite is available with both manual and CVT (automatic) transmissions. It comes only with a petrol engine; a diesel option is not offered. This car is a “Make in India” product.
Bold Front Design
The Nissan Magnite has a bold and big front look that feels sporty. Even in the base variant, it comes with many accessories that other cars often do not offer.
The front features a large Nissan logo and a black front grille with a nice chrome finish around it. The base variant has normal halogen headlamps. Higher variants offer projector headlamps and DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Fog lamps are not included but can be added later. It also has a black skid plate and an excellent 205 mm ground clearance, making it easy to drive on different roads.
Sleek Side Profile
Looking at the side, the Magnite features 16-inch steel rims. It has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Black cladding runs along the side. The turn indicator is placed on the fender, and the Magnite badge is also visible. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are black and can be adjusted and folded by hand. The A-pillar is a rough black color.
A great feature for the base variant is the silver roof rails, which are often not seen in base models of other cars. Door cladding helps protect the doors from scratches. The door handles match the body color. The car has a 2500 mm wheelbase and a 40-liter fuel tank capacity.
Attractive Rear View
The back of the Nissan Magnite also looks bold and attractive. The ex-showroom price for the base variant is ₹5,59,000. It has a micro roof antenna and a spoiler, which is a rare feature for a base model. You will also find a high-mount stop lamp, a defogger, and a rear wiper in this base variant.
The rear features a Nissan logo and Magnite badging. It has wild signature tail lamps and parking sensors in the bumper for easier parking. Reflectors are also present. The boot can be opened easily with a magnetic button.
Spacious Boot and Dimensions
The Magnite offers a generous 336 liters of boot space. If you fold down the rear seats, this space expands to a large 690 liters, which is great for carrying a lot of luggage. A steel-rim spare tire is located inside the boot. For convenience, there are two lights and a handle to close the boot easily. A parcel tray is not included but can be added later.
The overall dimensions of the Nissan Magnite are:
- Length: 3994 mm
- Width: 1758 mm
- Height: 1572 mm
The on-road price for the base variant in Lucknow is approximately ₹6,59,000.
Comfortable Cabin and Dashboard
Inside, the Magnite has a dual-tone door design. A notable feature for a base variant is that all four power windows have controls on the driver’s door. It also includes a child lock and a bottle holder on the door. Speakers are not included but can be installed later.
The dashboard also has a nice dual-tone finish. Right from the base variant, the Magnite comes with a digital instrument cluster. The seats are made of fabric and offer a recline option, though height adjustment is not available. There is a fuel lid opener below the seat.
The steering wheel provides good grip. While it doesn’t have controls mounted on it (these are available in upper variants, with cruise control in the top variant), it features a large Nissan logo and an SRS airbag for safety. The digital instrument cluster shows RPM, an MID screen with various information, check lights, and a fuel gauge. Wiper controls are on the left, and headlamp controls are on the right. ORVMs can be manually adjusted from inside.
The center console has silver-finished AC vents. There is space to install an aftermarket music system. Buttons for hazard lights, boot open, and defogger are present. You’ll find manual AC controls and some storage space. The car comes with a five-speed manual transmission, and a CVT option is also available. Other features include a handbrake, two glass holders, and a glove box with good space. A passenger airbag is also provided. The base variant includes a Day/Night IRVM and a reading lamp. The passenger sun visor has a vanity mirror, but the driver’s side does not.
The Nissan Magnite is a highly demanded “Make in India” product, with a waiting period of around 30 to 32 days.
Rear Seat Experience
The rear doors also have dual-tone styling, a door opener, power window controls, and a bottle holder. Speakers can be added later. Rear passengers get good leg space and headroom, contributing to overall cabin comfort. A reading lamp and grab handles are available for rear passengers. Similar to the front, a parcel tray for the rear is not included but can be bought and installed after purchase.
Engine Options and Safety Features
The base variant of the Nissan Magnite is powered by a 1.0-liter non-turbo petrol engine. This three-cylinder, 999 cc engine produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque. As mentioned, a CVT option is available. There is also an option for a more powerful 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine in higher variants.
The Magnite prioritizes car safety features. It includes:
- ABS with EBD
- Dual airbags
- Reverse parking sensors
- Child safety lock
- Speed alert system
- Seat belt reminder
- Engine immobilizer
- Crash sensors
Overall, the Nissan Magnite base variant offers many features that are usually found in higher trims of other cars, making it a compelling choice.
