Discover the Nissan Magnite Base Model: Features, Design, and Value

The Nissan Magnite stands out as a compact SUV packed with impressive features, even in its base model. This article provides a detailed look at its exterior, interior, performance, and overall value.

Striking Exterior Design

The Nissan Magnite base model boasts a muscular and strong front look. It features chrome treatment around the front grille, giving it a premium feel right from the entry-level variant. The front also includes normal halogen headlights with clear indicator placement. While fog lamps are not included, there is provision to add them later. The bumper has a black finish, complementing the car’s robust appearance. A generous ground clearance of 205 mm ensures a confident ride.

Moving to the side, the car features a dual wiper setup for clear visibility. The roof is plain, and black finish cladding is present over the wheel arches. The ORVMs (Outside Rearview Mirrors) have a black finish and are manually adjustable. A unique highlight in this base model is the body-colored exterior door handles, a feature often missing in entry-level cars from other brands. Turn indicators are placed on the front fenders.

The rear profile of the Magnite base model is equally well-equipped. It comes with normal tail lights, a prominent Nissan logo, and Magnite badging. Surprisingly, for a base variant, it includes a rear wiper, defogger, a high-mount stop lamp, an integrated spoiler, and a power antenna. Parking sensors are also a standard offering, enhancing convenience and safety.

Dimensions and Colors

The Nissan Magnite measures 3994 mm in length, 1758 mm in width, and 1572 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The base model offers three color options: White, Silver, and Brown. Higher variants also include a Red color option.

Engine and Performance

The base model of the Nissan Magnite is powered by a petrol engine. It offers 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque. This variant comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Turbo engine and CVT automatic transmission options are available in higher variants.

Comfortable and Practical Interior

Inside, the Nissan Magnite base model offers a functional and comfortable cabin. The seats are upholstered in fabric and include a recline option. A key feature is the provision of power windows for all four doors, which is a significant advantage in a base model. The door panels include door openers, bottle holders, and space to install speakers.

The instrument cluster features a full digital display with good graphics, providing essential information like speedometer, multi-information display (trip, average, range, fuel gauge, and temperature). The steering wheel proudly displays the Nissan logo and features a silver finish. The AC vents also have a silver finish, adding a touch of style.

While the base model does not come with an audio system, there is ample space in the center console to install an aftermarket unit. The center console also includes manual AC controls, a hazard light switch, a defogger switch, and a button for the auto start/stop feature. Storage solutions include space for mobile phones, a 12V charging socket, cup holders, and a glove box. Front seats come with manually adjustable headrests. On the passenger side, a vanity mirror is provided. There are grab handles and a cabin light.

The rear cabin space is generous, providing good legroom and headroom, allowing three adults to sit comfortably. Rear seats also include headrests.

Boot Space and Spare Wheel

The Nissan Magnite offers a practical boot space of 336 liters, along with luggage hooks for convenience. The spare wheel is 14-inch, which is smaller than the main wheels. The base model does not include a parcel tray.

Safety and Warranty

Safety is a strong point for the Nissan Magnite, which has received a 4-star GNCAP safety rating. It comes with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Nissan provides a warranty of 2 years or 50,000 kilometers on this model.

Pricing and Value

The Nissan Magnite base model starts from 5,71,000 (ex-showroom). Higher variants, which offer turbo engine and CVT options, range from 6,78,000 to 7,58,000 (ex-showroom). The car is manufactured in Chennai, India. The base model offers excellent value, providing many features typically found in higher variants, such as all four power windows and an integrated spoiler. Adding an aftermarket audio system, central locking, and alloy wheels can further enhance the base model’s appeal.
