2022 Tata Tiago XZ Plus CNG Review: Features and Safety of the Best Hatchback

Explore the Tata Tiago CNG: A Feature-Packed Urban Hatchback

The Tata Tiago is a popular urban hatchback known for its strong build quality and practical features. This car offers a CNG option, making it an excellent choice for those seeking fuel efficiency. It also boasts a 4-star safety rating, ensuring a secure driving experience.

Striking Exterior Design

The Tiago CNG is available in several attractive colors. These include White, Red, Grey, Blue, Black, and Yellow. The car presents an eye-catching front design, featuring an appealing front grille with a black finish and a ‘Tri-Arrow’ pattern. The Tata logo is prominently displayed in the center. The overall look of the car is both sporty and modern.

Advanced Lighting and Wheels

For better visibility, the Tiago CNG’s top model comes with projector headlamps. It also includes LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and fog lamps. The car offers a good ground clearance of about 168 to 170 millimeters, which is helpful on various road conditions. The CNG version typically features 14-inch steel wheels, while the top petrol model gets 15-inch alloy wheels. Other exterior details include body-colored Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) and a dual-tone roof option in the top model.

Dimensions and Body Features

The Tata Tiago measures 3765 millimeters in length, 1677 millimeters in width, and 1535 millimeters in height. It features blacked-out B-pillars, adding to its dynamic appearance. The car has a 35-liter fuel tank capacity. A notable safety feature ensures the car will not start if the fuel lid is open.

Safety and Convenience on the Outside

At the rear, the Tiago CNG includes a reverse parking camera for easy maneuvering. It has standard tail lamps, but LED lights or reverse parking sensors are not available in lower models. The car proudly displays a ‘CNG’ badge. The spare wheel measures 155/80 R13.

Practical Boot Space for CNG

The standard boot space of the Tiago is 242 liters. However, with the CNG tank installed, the available luggage space is significantly reduced. The CNG tank occupies most of the boot area. The rear seats can be folded if you need to access the spare wheel. Due to the CNG tank, there is no space for a parcel tray.

Thoughtful Interior and Seating

The door panels are equipped with power window controls, a bottle holder, and a speaker. The seats feature stylish fabric upholstery. The front seats in the top model offer height-adjustable headrests. Near the driver’s seat, there are levers to conveniently open the fuel lid and the boot lid.

Modern Dashboard and Technology

The car’s dashboard has a contemporary design. It includes a switch to easily change between CNG and petrol fuel modes. The digital instrument cluster displays important information like the odometer, trip meter, and separate fuel level indicators for both CNG and petrol.

The steering wheel, adorned with the Tata logo, includes controls for the infotainment system. It is also tilt-adjustable, allowing drivers to find their most comfortable position. The AC vents feature a black piano finish with chrome highlights.

The center console houses a hazard light switch and a Harman touchscreen infotainment system. This system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Bluetooth connectivity. A reverse parking camera with guidelines assists with parking. The infotainment system is connected to 4 speakers and 2 tweeters for a good audio experience.

Below the infotainment system, you’ll find controls for the fog lamps. The top model comes with a fully automatic climate control system. Other interior features include a 12V charging socket, a USB port, and dedicated storage space for mobile phones or small items. The Tiago CNG is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission; an automatic (AMT) option is not available with the CNG variant. It also features a handbrake and two cup holders. The glove box is cooled and can be locked.

Comfort for All Passengers

The rear cabin is designed for passenger comfort. The rear door panel also includes a power window control and a speaker. Rear passengers benefit from good legroom and thigh support, making it comfortable for three people. Although there are no dedicated rear AC vents, the front cooling system is highly effective. For safety, the top model of the car includes two airbags. A passenger-side ticket holder is also provided.

Performance and Key Specifications

The Tiago CNG is powered by a 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine. It has a wheelbase of 2400 millimeters and a turning radius of 4.9 meters, making it easy to maneuver in city traffic.

Key Features for a Complete Drive

The Tata Tiago comes equipped with essential safety and convenience features. These include airbags, central locking, corner stability control, and a speed alert system. It also offers seat belt warnings for added safety, along with the advanced infotainment system.
