Hyundai Creta SX Petrol: Detailed Features, Price, and Performance Review

Welcome to a detailed look at the Hyundai Creta SX Petrol variant. This review covers its design, features, engine specifications, and pricing. The car is presented in a striking green color that appears almost black at night.

Hyundai Creta Variants and Pricing

The Hyundai Creta’s base model starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹11,11,000. The SX Petrol variant, which is the focus of this review, is priced at ₹15,51,000 (ex-showroom). While the SX was previously considered a “second-top” model, newer variants like the SX Premium and SX Optional are now positioned above it.

Smart Key Features

The Creta SX Petrol comes with a smart key. This key includes buttons for locking and unlocking the car. Additionally, holding a specific button allows you to remotely start the engine. Both keys provided are identical.

Exterior Highlights: Front Design

The front of the Creta SX Petrol features connected Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). A prominent Hyundai logo is positioned above a large front grille, which also integrates the turn indicators. The automatic LED headlamps are located below, but fog lamps are not included. The lower grille is black, complemented by a silver-finished skid plate. The car offers a ground clearance of 190 mm. At the top, you will find a dual-wiper and handwasher setup.

Exterior Highlights: Side Profile

On the side, the Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) are auto-foldable, unfolding when the car is unlocked and folding when it’s locked. These ORVMs also include integrated indicators and puddle lamps. The car rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, with disc brakes on both front and rear. The tire profile is 215/60 R17. Black cladding runs along the lower body. The A-pillar and B-pillar are finished in glossy black. Chrome door handles with request sensors add to the premium feel. Roof rails and a panoramic sunroof are also part of the side profile. Compared to the regular Creta, the Creta N Line variant adds red elements, red calipers, a dual-tone glossy black roof, and a sportier feel with a turbo engine.

Exterior Highlights: Rear Design

The rear features connected LED tail lights and a central Hyundai logo. A reverse parking camera is placed near the nameplate, along with yellow reverse lights. Other features include a rear wiper, defogger, high-mount stop lamp, and a shark fin antenna. “Creta” and “SX” badging are visible. The bumper includes reflectors, four reverse parking sensors, and a reverse light. A grey-finished skid plate and a towing hook option are also present at the rear.

Practicality: Boot Space and Storage

The Hyundai Creta offers a generous boot space of 433 liters. Inside, there’s a large parcel tray, and the rear seats have a 60-40 split configuration for flexible storage. A boot light and a hook for hanging bags are also provided. The spare tire is a normal steel rim, unlike the alloy wheels, and is stored along with a jack and tool kit.

Dimensions and Fuel Capacity

The Hyundai Creta measures 4330 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, and 1635 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2610 mm. The petrol variant has a fuel tank capacity of 50 liters. Diesel variants require AdBlue.

Step Inside: Interior Features

The interior boasts dual-tone door trims, with sun blinds or curtains on the rear doors. The door panels include power window controls, ORVM adjustment controls, a door opener in grey finish, speakers, and bottle holders. The seats are upholstered in fabric, with top variants offering leather and ventilated seats. The driver’s seat features height adjustment.

For rear passengers, there are AC vents, two Type-C USB ports, and a small storage area. The legroom, knee room, and thigh support are comfortable, thanks to the 2610 mm wheelbase. Pockets are available on the seatbacks. The B-pillar is finished in matte black, and the roof has white LED lights. The panoramic sunroof offers an expansive view. The rear also includes a parcel tray, two adjustable headrests, three-point seatbelts, and an armrest with two cup holders. ISOFIX child seat mounts are standard. The headroom is ample, ensuring a comfortable ride.

The driver’s side features chrome door handles with a request sensor. The smart key allows remote engine start. Inside the driver’s door, you’ll find controls for all four power windows, central locking, and ORVM folding/unfolding. The footwell includes ABC pedals for the manual transmission and a dead pedal. Controls for bonnet release, push-button start/stop, idle start/stop, traction control, and headlamp level adjustment are located on the dashboard.

The dashboard includes a fully digital instrument cluster displaying speed, RPM, and an MID screen with information like compass, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), range, fuel gauge, and temperature bars. The steering wheel, with its D-cut design, features the Hyundai logo, cruise control, MID controls, and telephony/infotainment controls. It offers both tilt and telescopic adjustment. Automatic headlamp controls are on one stalk, and manual wiper controls on the other (rain-sensing wipers are available in top models).

The center console features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB connectivity, wireless features, and Bluelink connectivity. This system also displays the feed from the reverse parking camera (quality is average; 360-degree cameras are in top variants). The car comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, which can also be operated via the touchscreen. Below the touchscreen are physical buttons for hazard lights, media, radio, navigation, and climate control.

Additional features include a 12V charging outlet, Type-A and Type-C USB ports, and a wireless charging pad. The SX variant comes with a six-speed manual transmission, with automatic options also available. The center console also has two glass holders, a manual handbrake, and an armrest with internal storage. Six airbags are standard, with branding visible on the pillars. Ambient lighting (yellow) is present. The glove box is cooled, keeping items chilled.

The IRVM is adjustable and features Bluelink, Roadside Assistance (RSA), and SOS emergency buttons. A sunglass holder, microphone, and white LED roof lights are also included. The panoramic sunroof can be operated via voice commands. The driver’s sun visor has a ticket holder, while the passenger’s side has a vanity mirror.

Engine Options, Power, and Mileage

The Hyundai Creta offers both petrol and diesel engine options. The SX variant reviewed here features a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces approximately 113-114 BHP of power and 143 Nm of torque. It delivers an estimated mileage of 17-18 kmpl, which can vary based on driving style.

For those preferring diesel, a 1.5-liter diesel engine is available. This diesel engine generates 114 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque, offering an impressive mileage of 20-22 kmpl. Under the bonnet, you’ll find the washer fluid reservoir, battery compartment, and insulation for noise reduction.

Advanced Safety Features

The Hyundai Creta is equipped with a comprehensive set of safety features:

  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Six airbags
  • Reverse parking sensors
  • Reverse parking camera
  • Speed alert system
  • Seat belt warning
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Crash sensor
  • Automatic headlamps
  • Traction control
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Price and Ownership Cost

The Hyundai Creta SX Petrol variant with a manual transmission has an ex-showroom price of ₹15,51,000. In Lucknow, the on-road price is approximately ₹18,05,000. For an example, with a down payment of ₹8,05,000, a 5-year EMI at 9.5% interest would be around ₹21,000. Extending the loan to 7 years would reduce the EMI to approximately ₹16,000-₹17,000. The car comes with a 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty, which can be extended for an additional cost.
