Tata Nexon Creativ+ S: A Closer Look at the Popular Compact SUV

The Tata Nexon is a very popular compact SUV known for its strong build and many features. We are here to explore its best-selling variant, the Creativ+ S. This model comes with a regular-sized electric sunroof. The base model of the Nexon starts from ₹8,00,000 ex-showroom. The Creativ+ S Petrol variant you see here is priced at ₹11,30,000 ex-showroom. The Nexon is well-known for its 5-star build quality.

Compared to earlier models from 2024, some features have been changed. Some older features are now less available, while new ones have been added.

Smart Access and Front Design

The Tata Nexon Creativ+ S comes with a smart key. This key has buttons for locking, unlocking, and opening the boot. The Tata logo is clearly visible on the back of the key.

From the front, the Nexon shows a clear Tata logo placed on a glass-like surface. It has a full front grill and a black lower grill. If the car has a 360-degree camera, its placement is visible at the front. The car features dual-functional indicators and DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Below these, you will find LED automatic headlamps. Earlier models might have had projector headlamps, but now it uses normal LED lights. The car also has a good ground clearance of 208 mm. It includes dual wipers with a washer, and these wipers are rain-sensing.

Side Profile and Wheels

Looking at the side, the Nexon Creativ+ S features auto-foldable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs). These ORVMs have integrated indicators and also house a camera for the 360-degree view system. The car runs on 16-inch alloy wheels with a large pattern and five nuts. The Tata logo is in the center of the wheels. For braking, it has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The Nexon is available in various colors like White, Grey, Blue, and Grassland Green. The rear design is muscular, with the Tata logo in the center and Nexon branding below it. There is a reverse parking camera placement. While it has a rear wiper, it does not have a rear defogger. An integrated spoiler and a shark-fin antenna are also present. The rear seats are 100% foldable, allowing for more storage space. The boot also includes a light and hooks. The spare tire is a normal 16-inch steel rim, similar in size to the main tires, and is placed below the boot floor. Tools like a jack and spanner are also stored here. For CNG variants, a twin-cylinder option is available where the cylinders are neatly placed in the lower boot area, leaving the upper space free.

Dimensions and Market Rivals

The Tata Nexon measures 3995 mm in length, 1804 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2498 mm.

In its segment, the Nexon competes with other popular vehicles like the Mahindra XUV3XO, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Kia Sonet. However, the Nexon stands out due to its strong build quality, attractive looks, and extensive features.

Comfortable Interior

Inside the Nexon Creativ+ S, the cabin features a dual-tone door trim with a door opener, power window controls, speakers, and bottle holders. The seats are made of fabric, and any seat covers are accessories. Rear passengers get decent legroom and thigh support. There are hooks for hanging items and grab handles. The rear cabin also includes two adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts. The rear seats are 100% foldable. Rear AC vents are provided for comfort, though there are no USB or 12V charging ports for rear passengers. There is a slight hump on the floor in the middle.

Driver-Focused Features

The driver’s side door trim is also dual-tone and includes controls for all four power windows, a door opener, speaker, bottle holder, and umbrella holder. The controls for ORVM adjustment are located above. The dashboard has a dual-tone finish. The driver’s seat is height-adjustable and reclinable. You will find controls for the fuel lid opener, manual transmission pedals, and the bonnet release.

The car features a full digital instrument cluster. It displays speed, RPM meter, fuel gauge, temperature, and other information like audio, trip details, range, and drive modes. The MID (Multi-Information Display) controls are on the steering wheel. The steering wheel itself is new, a two-spoke design with an illuminated Tata logo. It includes cruise control, MID controls, and controls for telephony and infotainment. The steering is D-cut type and is tilt-adjustable. The car also has automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

In the center console, there is a 10.25-inch touchscreen display for infotainment. This screen allows adjustment of AC flow and temperature. It supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and USB connectivity. A 360-degree camera system offers clear quality, better than some rivals, with options for 3D and 2D views. Below the screen are AC vents and touch panel buttons for fan speed, temperature, 360 camera shortcut, lock/unlock, boot unlock, and hazard lights. A 12V charging outlet and both Type A and Type C USB ports are present.

The car comes with a six-speed manual transmission, with an automatic option also available. There are three drive modes: City, Eco, and Sport. A manual handbrake is present, along with a slideable storage space. The armrest also has storage inside. Six airbags are provided (front seats and pillars). The glovebox is deep, cooled, and includes glass holders, but lacks a tablet holder or light. The IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) is manually adjustable. The roof light is white, and there are controls for the sunroof and a microphone. An indicator shows whether the passenger airbag is on or off. The electric sunroof is regular-sized. The passenger side sun visor has a vanity mirror, and the driver side has a ticket holder.

Engine and Performance Options

The Tata Nexon offers a unique range of engine options in its class, including Petrol, CNG, Diesel, and EV.

The petrol variant uses a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder Revotron engine. This engine produces 118 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. It is expected to deliver a mileage of 18-19 kmpl, which can be higher with good driving. Under the bonnet, you can see the ABS and EBD units, battery compartment, and copper insulation.

For those preferring diesel, a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine is available. It generates 114 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque, offering a mileage of 20-21 kmpl.

Pricing and Safety Features

The Tata Nexon Creativ+ S Petrol (manual transmission) is priced at ₹11,30,000 ex-showroom. Its on-road price in Lucknow is approximately ₹13,00,000. If you opt for the Diesel variant of the Creativ+ S, the on-road price would be around ₹14,70,000, which is about a ₹1,60,000 difference from the petrol model. CNG variants typically have about a ₹1,00,000 price difference compared to the petrol variants.

In terms of safety, the Nexon is well-equipped with features like ABS with EBD, six airbags, reverse parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, speed alert system, seat belt warning, engine immobilizer, crash sensors, and automatic headlamps.
