Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus 2024: Price, Features, and Review of the 9-Seater SUV

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: The Ultimate 9-Seater SUV for Tough Journeys

The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus is here, presenting itself as a robust and muscular SUV. Designed for those seeking a durable and spacious vehicle, it offers a comfortable 9-seater configuration. This car comes in two main variants: the P4, which is the base model, and the P10, serving as the top-tier option.

Muscular Exterior Design and Dimensions

From the front, the Bolero Neo Plus boasts a truly muscular and tough appearance. It features a completely blacked-out lower grille. While the P4 base model comes with a standard dummy flip key without remote controls, the top model includes features like DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Fog lamp housings are present, allowing for later installation of fog lights if desired.

The Bolero Neo Plus is available in three striking color options: White, Cloud Silver, and Black. Its dimensions are significant, with a length of 4400 mm, a width of 1795 mm, and a height of 1812 mm. The vehicle also has a substantial wheelbase of 2680 mm.

Wheels, Brakes, and Side Profile

When viewed from the side, the Bolero Neo Plus clearly stands out as longer than the standard Bolero Neo. It is over 4 meters in length. It rides on larger 16-inch wheels, compared to the 15-inch wheels found on the Bolero Neo. The base model features 16-inch steel rims, equipped with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The tire section measures 215/75 R16.

The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are finished in black and are manually adjustable and foldable. The door handles come in a matt black finish. Fueling the vehicle involves a diesel filler cap, where both diesel and urea can be added. The Bolero Neo Plus has a generous fuel tank capacity of 60 liters.

Distinctive Rear Design

The rear profile of the Bolero Neo Plus is noticeably different from the Bolero Neo, particularly with its unique backlight design. These backlights use normal halogen bulbs. On the base model, there is no rear wiper or defogger. A high-mounted stop lamp is included for added safety. The P4 base model also features its variant badging on the rear.

For parking assistance, the rear bumper includes two reverse parking sensors and reflectors. A practical footstep is also provided. The spare wheel, located at the rear, is a 16-inch unit, matching the other wheels, and comes with a cover bearing the Bolero branding. The “Bolero Neo Plus” badge is prominently displayed on the left side of the rear.

Spacious 9-Seater Interior

One of the most significant features of the Bolero Neo Plus is its impressive 9-seater configuration. This is achieved by extending the rear seating area, which allows two passengers to comfortably sit on each side in the last row, totaling four people. This, combined with three seats in the middle row and two in the front, makes it a true 9-seater. Rear passengers also benefit from openable vents for ventilation.

For those requiring more cargo space, the rear seats can be easily folded, creating approximately 500 liters of boot space.

Driver’s Cabin and Features

The interior dashboard features a dual-tone design. The base model is equipped with a normal dummy flip key, meaning manual locking and unlocking are required as it lacks remote controls. The ORVMs are manually adjustable.

The instrument cluster is analog, displaying a speedometer with markings up to 180 km/h. It also shows a trip average and instant mileage, with a reading of 12.6 kmpl observed when stationary. The steering wheel is tilt-adjustable, and controls for headlights and wipers are conveniently located.

The center console includes controls for the manual AC system, allowing adjustment of fan speed, airflow, and temperature. A hazard light switch and a 12V charging outlet are also present. The Bolero Neo Plus comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. For safety, dual front airbags are a standard feature. Storage options include a glove box and a small space near the gear lever. Power window controls are located near the handbrake, and a 12V charging outlet is also provided for the rear passengers.

It’s important to note that the base model does not include an audio system, touchscreen, or steering-mounted controls, and it lacks rear AC vents.

Powerful Diesel Engine Performance

The Bolero Neo Plus is exclusively powered by a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine. This robust engine is paired only with a manual transmission, offering no other engine or transmission options.

The engine delivers a power output of 118 BHP and generates 280 Nm of torque. In terms of fuel efficiency, the vehicle is expected to offer a mileage of around 16 kmpl.

Variants, Pricing, and Safety

The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus is available in the P4 (base) and P10 (top) variants. The ex-showroom price for the P4 base model is ₹11,39,000, with an estimated on-road price of approximately ₹13,50,000.

Safety is a priority with features such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system, seat belt warnings, and an engine immobilizer.

Conclusion

The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus stands out as a unique 9-seater SUV, offering a robust build, powerful diesel engine, and essential safety features. Its spacious interior and extended seating make it an ideal choice for large families or those needing a tough, multi-passenger vehicle for various journeys.
