The Tata Tiago is a highly-rated hatchback car, known for its safety and features. This article focuses on the XM CNG model, detailing its specifications, pricing, and key highlights.

New Pricing Benefits and Savings

Recent updates bring good news for buyers. If you choose the base model of the Tata Tiago, you will pay ₹42,000 less than before, making the starting price more affordable. The base model’s on-road price is now approximately ₹5 lakh.

For the XM CNG variant, you can save ₹57,900 on the ex-showroom price. This saving translates to around ₹65,000 when considering the on-road price.

Exterior Design and Features

The Tata Tiago XM CNG boasts a stylish exterior.

Front Profile: The front grille features a glossy black finish with the Tata logo at the center. The lower grille also has the same glossy black finish. It comes with halogen-based headlamps and side indicators. There are no fog lamps, but these can be added as accessories. The ground clearance is a good 170 mm. Dual wipers and washers are also present. A CNG sticker is visible on the roof, which is a plain design in this variant. The A-pillar matches the body color.

Side Profile: Being the second base model, the XM variant has a simpler side look. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) and door handles are in a matt black finish. The car comes with a 3-year or 1 lakh km warranty, which can be extended. It rides on 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. The front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear wheels have drum brakes. The tire profile is 175/65 R14. The ORVMs are manually foldable and adjustable. The B-pillars are body-colored.

Rear Profile: At the rear, you’ll find a large Tata logo and Tiago badging, along with an “iCNG” badge for the CNG variant. It features normal halogen backlights with integrated indicators and reverse lights. This lower variant does not include a rear wiper or defogger. A high-mount stop lamp and a power antenna are located on the roof. The rear bumper is dual-tone and includes two ultrasonic parking sensors. No rear camera is offered in this model, as it lacks a touchscreen. The spare tire is a normal steel rim located underneath the car.

Interior Comfort and Technology

The Tiago XM CNG offers a comfortable and practical cabin with a dual-tone interior.

Cabin Overview: The car includes an audio system, two airbags, a new steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster. The doors open wide, providing good access.

Rear Seating Area: Inside, you’ll find good legroom and thigh support for rear passengers. Headroom is also adequate. The seats are made of fabric, though the display car has accessory seat covers. The fixed headrests and seatbelt points are clearly visible. A white LED roof light illuminates the cabin.

Driver’s Cockpit: The dual-tone dashboard creates a pleasant environment. The seats offer height adjustment and recline options. The driver’s side features power window controls for all four windows. The ORVMs are manually adjustable.

Dashboard Features: The digital instrument cluster displays speed, RPM, and fuel information, which can be switched to show CNG details. The steering wheel is tilt-adjustable and features an illuminated logo, but no mounted controls in this variant. Headlamps and wipers are manually operated.

Center Console: The center console includes a hazard light switch and AC vents with glossy and chrome accents. An audio system by Harman supports Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity for entertainment. A converter switch allows easy toggling between CNG and petrol modes. The car has manual AC controls for fan speed, temperature, and airflow. Below, there’s a USB port, a 12V charging outlet, and a storage surface.

Transmission and Storage: The Tiago XM CNG comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Notably, it also offers an automatic option for the CNG variant, a first-in-segment feature. Two cup holders and a manual handbrake are present. The glove box offers decent storage space, including a tablet holder.

Engine, Performance, and Fuel Efficiency

This means less space for luggage, though some upper space remains. The rear seats can be fully folded (100%) to create more cargo room. There is no parcel tray, but a hook is provided to hang items up to 3 kg. The spare tire is located beneath the car, a useful feature not always found in CNG variants of competitors.
