Explore the Nexon Smart Base Model: Features, Design, and Value

The Nexon Smart is the entry-level model, also known as the base model. It is a great option for those who want to customize their vehicle later. Even as a base model, it now offers many features that were not present in earlier versions.

Exterior Design and Features

The front of the car has a very modern and futuristic look. It comes with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) that also work as indicators. LED headlamps are provided even in this base model. The front grille features a gloss black finish with the brand’s logo. The lower grille has a black pattern. A tow hook is also located at the side.

From the side, the car features 16-inch steel wheels without wheel covers. The tire size is 195/60 R16. Black cladding runs along the side. The outside mirrors are matt black and can be adjusted and folded by hand. Turn indicators are placed on the outside mirrors. The A-pillar is in the body color, and the door handles are finished in matt black.

The rear of the car features connected taillamps; however, in this base model, only the outer parts of the taillamps light up. The high-mounted stop lamp is positioned above the brand logo. This variant does not include a rear wiper or defogger. You will find a spoiler and a power antenna at the rear. Reflectors and a reverse light are also present. There are two ultrasonic parking sensors, and the license plate light is white. The exhaust pipe is visible on one side at the rear.

The car is available in several colors including White, Grey, Red, Blue, Fearless Purple, and Creative Ocean. The roof is plain; higher variants offer a dual-tone roof option.

Safety First: Standard Airbags and More

Safety is a key focus, with six airbags provided as standard in this car. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system, seatbelt warning for all passengers, and an engine immobilizer. The car has a 5-star build quality rating.

Comfort and Convenience (Interior)

The dashboard has a new look. It features a new steering wheel with an illuminated brand logo. The steering wheel can be tilted for adjustment. The instrument cluster is fully digital and provides information such as trip details, mileage (showing 10.6 kmpl in the displayed car, though expected is 17-18 kmpl), range, and door-open warning. Fuel gauge bars and temperature bars are also present.

This base model includes manual AC controls. There is a hazard light switch and a boot unlock button. A 12V charging outlet is provided, but there are no USB or AUX ports in this variant. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. It offers three drive modes: City, Eco, and Sports. Two glass holders are located near the handbrake, with additional space behind them. The glove box is deep and also includes two glass holders.

The seats are made of black fabric and offer a recline option. Adjustable headrests are provided for all three rear passengers. However, there are no rear AC vents in this variant. The front doors have power windows, while the rear windows use manual winders. The outside mirrors are manually adjustable using a small lever. The doors also have space for speakers (which can be added later), an umbrella, and bottles. Inside the cabin, there are two white cabin lights. The passenger-side sun visor includes a vanity mirror, while the driver’s side has a ticket holder.

Power and Performance: Engine Options

The Smart variant comes with a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This engine produces 118 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. It offers an expected mileage of about 17 to 18 kmpl.

For higher variants, a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine is available. This diesel engine delivers 113 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque, with an expected mileage of about 24 kmpl. The Smart variant only offers the petrol engine option.
