All New Tata Nexon: A Muscular SUV with 5-Star Safety

The all-new Tata Nexon is presented as a robust and feature-rich compact SUV, boasting a 5-star safety rating. This vehicle offers a blend of stylish looks and advanced features, making it a well-rounded choice in its segment. The Nexon is available in various engine options, including petrol, diesel, and an electric vehicle (EV) variant, providing multiple choices for buyers.

Nexon Variants and Pricing

The Nexon comes in four main variants: Smart (base model), Pure, Creative, and Fearless (top model). Each of these main variants further includes two to three sub-variants.

The ex-showroom price for the base model starts at ₹8,10,000. The top model’s on-road price in Lucknow can go up to approximately ₹17,00,000. The Creative petrol variant, specifically, has an ex-showroom price of ₹11,00,000, and an on-road price in Lucknow of around ₹12,75,000.

Striking Exterior Design

The Nexon showcases a muscular front profile. It features a glossy black grille with the Tata logo. The dual-functional DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) also act as indicators. The SUV is equipped with an LED headlight setup. While the Creative variant features a blacked-out lower grille and a white skid plate, it does not include fog lamps. The grille design has been updated from the previous Nexon model. The vehicle offers a ground clearance of 208 mm.

From the side, the Nexon is equipped with dual wipers and a plain roof complemented by silver finish roof rails. The 16-inch alloy wheels feature a new diamond-cut pattern. Front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear wheels have drum brakes. The dimensions of the car are 3995 mm in length, 1804 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height. The tire profile is 215/60 R16. Black cladding runs along the sides, and the outside mirrors are finished in glossy black. These electrically adjustable mirrors have integrated indicators but do not auto-fold upon locking or unlocking. The fuel filler cap is located on the side, with a fuel tank capacity of 44 liters.

The rear profile of the Nexon features a shark fin antenna and connected LED taillights that integrate the indicators. This Creative variant includes a rear wiper, which is placed inside, and a spoiler. There is no defogger in this particular variant. The Tata logo is centrally placed, with the Nexon badge below it. A reverse parking camera is positioned just under the Tata logo. The rear bumper includes reflectors, lights, and two ultrasonic parking sensors. A white skid plate at the rear gives it a muscular appearance. The boot space has been increased to 382 liters from the previous 350 liters. The boot also includes a parcel tray, a boot light, and hooks. A steel spare wheel, along with a jack and tools, is provided. The rear seats are fully foldable, but a 60:40 split option is not available in this variant.

Modern Interior and Comfort

Inside, the Nexon offers a new-look dashboard. The Creative variant comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, which can be upgraded to a larger 10.25-inch screen in higher variants. Connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported. The cabin is designed with dual-tone door trims, chrome door openers, and controls for power windows. The driver’s seat is height-adjustable and has a recline function.

The dashboard includes AC vents and a leather-touch panel for a premium feel. Controls for boot unlock, hazard lights, and central lock/unlock are present. The car features a 6-speed manual transmission. For charging, there’s a 12V outlet, along with Type A and Type C USB ports. The Nexon offers three drive modes: City, Eco, and Sport, allowing drivers to choose based on their preference and driving conditions. Other interior features include a handbrake and glass holders, though an armrest is not available in this Creative variant. A deep glovebox with glass holders is also provided.

The driver’s door features a request sensor for locking and unlocking the vehicle. Once inside, the push-button start/stop system ignites the engine. The fully digital and colorful instrument cluster displays various vehicle information. The new steering wheel features an illuminated Tata logo and steering-mounted controls for telephone, infotainment, and the Multi-Information Display (MID). The MID can show details like layout, settings, trip information (driving time, average speed, distance, average fuel consumption), and range. Manual controls for headlights and wipers are also provided. The IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) is manually adjustable. The cabin features a white roof light, a microphone, a vanity mirror on the co-driver’s sun visor, a ticket holder on the driver’s sun visor, and grab handles.

For rear passengers, there are comfortable seats, rear AC vents, and adjustable headrests. However, no charging outlets are provided in the rear, and an armrest is absent in this variant. The rear seating can comfortably accommodate two passengers, with a third possibly fitting but in a more compact manner.

Powerful Engine Options

The Nexon offers versatile engine choices:

  • Petrol Engine: A 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron engine producing 118 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. This engine delivers a mileage of approximately 20 kmpl.

  • Electric Vehicle (EV): An electric variant is also available for those seeking an eco-friendly option.
