Exploring Car Performance on CNG: Top Speed Test
Introduction to Our Car Speed Test Today, we are testing the top speed of an ‘Onde’ car. Our drive takes place on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The car has a CNG kit installed. We want to see how fast it can go on CNG. The car has already covered over 10,000 kilometers, making it a good time for a performance check.
Inside the Car: Features and Setup Inside the car, the odometer shows it has run more than 10,000 kilometers. The car is equipped with two airbags for safety. When we start the car, the finish looks great. The dashboard clearly shows that the car is running on CNG. A blinking light on the left indicates CNG mode. We can also switch to petrol if needed. We made sure to wear seatbelts before starting the speed test.
Driving Experience on the Expressway The car is driving very smoothly on CNG. The gear shifts are fluid. We quickly reached speeds of 100 kilometers per hour. The Lucknow-Agra Expressway is excellent for driving. It is wide and has strong barricades in the middle, preventing traffic from crossing over. This makes for a very safe and smooth driving experience with no cuts or obstacles on the road.
CNG vs. Petrol Performance The car performs well on CNG, but we observed a difference compared to petrol. If we were driving on petrol, the car would likely offer more torque and power. This difference in performance is usually more noticeable at higher speeds. However, even on CNG, the car easily crossed 100 kilometers per hour, showing good overall performance.
Reaching Top Speed: Safety First As we continued driving, the car reached 140 kilometers per hour. At this speed, the car started to shake quite a bit. Because of this, we decided not to push the speed any further. Safety is very important, especially when driving with family. We noticed a speed alert system that recommends slowing down when speed is high. It is always best to follow posted speed limits like 80 km/h or 100 km/h. Driving at very high speeds is always risky.
Key Takeaways and Future Plans The current top speed achieved on CNG for this ‘Onde’ car was 140 kilometers per hour. The car could potentially go faster, but we prioritized safety. The overall performance on CNG is very good, even though it’s slightly less powerful than petrol. We plan to test the top speed again in the future, after the car has covered another 5,000 kilometers, reaching a total of about 15,000 kilometers. Remember, a car’s ‘top speed’ is what it can do, not what you should do on public roads.
