The New Trend is a standout option in the 7-seater car segment, offering a compelling package at an attractive price. This car provides both manual and automatic transmission choices, catering to various driving preferences. Let’s explore its details, from exterior design to interior comfort and safety features.
Engine, Variants, and Color Options
The New Trend is powered by a 1000cc petrol engine, delivering 71bhp of power and 96Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of approximately 18-20 kmpl. The car is available in multiple variants, including a ZXi variant. You can choose from six vibrant color options: White, Silver, Red, Metallic, Shade Blue, and another popular shade. For convenience, it includes central locking, with both a button key and a normal key provided.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
The New Trend boasts an impressive exterior. The front features a black finish grille with chrome inserts, framing a large brand logo in the center. Projector headlights and turn indicators are integrated into the design, with provisions for fog lights. A black lower grille complements the overall look. The car offers a substantial 182mm ground clearance, making it suitable for diverse road conditions.
Looking at the side, the car features roof rails, a recent addition that enhances its appeal. It also comes with 15-inch wheels fitted with 175/65 R15 tires. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are now in a black finish, a change from previous body-colored options. The fuel lid also sports a black finish.
In terms of size, the New Trend has a length of 3990mm and a width of 1739mm. The wheelbase measures 2636mm. The rear design includes normal halogen taillights, a high-mount stop lamp, and three reverse parking sensors for added safety.
Interior Comfort and Features
Step inside the New Trend and experience a well-designed cabin. The front seats feature black fabric upholstery. The front doors come with power window controls for both windows, door handles, bottle holders, and speaker placements. Similar power window controls are also found for the rear doors. The seats offer comfortable fabric cushioning.
The instrument cluster features a mid-display, with a meter on the left and fuel gauge and temperature on the right. It provides useful information such as check lights, trip details, and average mileage. The steering wheel prominently displays the brand logo and includes audio controls. It is tilt-adjustable, allowing drivers to set it to their preferred position.
The center console hosts AC vents and a music system that supports USB, AUX, and Bluetooth, paired with four speakers. Below the music system, you’ll find switches for lights and lock/unlock functions, along with a dedicated space for your mobile. Further down, there’s additional storage, a 12V charging socket, and even more storage space. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT option. Two cup holders and a handbrake are also conveniently placed.
For added comfort, the New Trend includes a day/night inside rearview mirror (IRVM) and a microphone. While the driver’s side does not have a vanity mirror, the passenger side does. The glove box offers ample storage. Notably, roof-mounted AC vents are now offered, enhancing comfort for all passengers. However, AC vents previously offered in the pillars have been discontinued.
The second row offers good leg space and thigh support. For access to the third row, the seats can be easily folded. The third row provides a small storage space and is comfortably suited for children. When the third row is not in use, folding the seats significantly increases the boot space. The boot offers 84 liters of storage, which is compact due to its 7-seater configuration.
Safety and Pricing
Safety is a key aspect of the New Trend. It has received a four-star safety rating in crash tests and is equipped with two airbags. Other safety features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), central locking, child safety locks, reverse parking sensors, a seatbelt warning system, speed warning, and door ajar warning. The car comes with a warranty of 2 years or 40,000 km.
The starting price for the New Trend is around 5 to 6 lakh rupees. The ZXi variant, for example, has an ex-showroom price of approximately 6.96 lakh rupees, with an on-road price in certain locations like Lucknow being around 7.5 lakh rupees. With its combination of features, safety, and competitive pricing, the New Trend offers great value as a 7-seater car.
