2026 Tata Tiago XT Value For Money Variant Review and Price

Tata Tiago XT: A Value-for-Money Hatchback with 4-Star Safety

The Tata Tiago is a popular 4-star rated hatchback, and its XT variant stands out as a most value-for-money option. This car comes packed with essential features that cater to your daily needs.

Pricing and Engine Options

The base model of this hatchback starts from an ex-showroom price of ₹4,57,000. If you choose the XT petrol variant with a manual transmission, it will cost you ₹5,80,000 ex-showroom. The on-road price and other details, including financing and discounts, will be discussed further.

The Tata Tiago offers multiple engine choices. You can get it with a petrol engine or a bi-fuel CNG option. There is also an electric (EV) variant available.

Exterior Design and Features

The front of the car features a glossy black grille with the Tata logo placed in the center. A chrome strip extends from one headlamp to the other. The headlamps are halogen-based, emitting a yellow light, and include turn indicators. The XT variant does not come with fog lamps or DRLs (Daytime Running Lights); these parts in the lower grille area are available as accessories. The lower grille itself is finished in blackout black.

Looking at the side, the car comes with a 3-year or 1 lakh km warranty, which can be extended for an extra cost. It rides on 14-inch steel rims with dual-tone wheel covers. The tire profile is 175/65 R14. For braking, it has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) have a glossy black finish and can be adjusted from inside the car, but they do not fold automatically when locked. The A-pillar matches the body color, while the B-pillar is black. Other items like door visors and door guards are accessory parts.

The rear profile features the Tata logo in the center, with “Tiago” badging below it. This variant includes a reverse parking camera and a rear defogger. It also has a high-mounted stop lamp and a power antenna with a glossy black finish. The taillights are normal halogen units, with the reverse light integrated. The rear bumper has a dual-tone design and two ultrasonic parking sensors. The exhaust pipe is located on the right side.

Practicality and Dimensions

The Tata Tiago offers a ground clearance of 170 millimeters. This hatchback comes with a boot space of 242 liters, which is ample for luggage. It has a removable parcel tray, and the rear seats can be 100% folded to create more space. There’s also a hook in the boot with a 3 kg capacity. The spare tire is a 13-inch steel unit, which is one size smaller than the main tires, and includes a jack and tool kit. For the CNG variant, there is an option for twin CNG cylinders that fit below the boot floor.

The car’s length is 3767 millimeters, its width is 1677 millimeters, and its height is 1535 millimeters. The wheelbase, which is the distance between the front and rear wheels, is 2400 millimeters. The fuel tank capacity is 35 liters, and both petrol and CNG (if chosen) are filled from the same cap.

Comfort and Interior Highlights

The interior of the XT variant comes in a stylish dual-tone finish. The door trims are also dual-tone and include a door opener, power window controls, a speaker, and a bottle holder. The seats are made of fabric, though the car shown has accessory seat covers.

The dashboard features a touchscreen infotainment system and manual AC controls (there are no rear AC vents). There is also a small space to keep items or bottles. Legroom and thigh support are average for a hatchback. The roof light is white, and grab handles are provided. The rear has a parcel tray and two fixed headrests, but no armrest. It comes with three-point seat belts for passengers.

From the driver’s side, you get a flip remote central locking key with lock/unlock and “follow me home” headlamp buttons, along with a normal manual key. The ORVM adjustment controls and all four power window controls are on the driver’s door. The car offers a 4-star safety rating. The fabric seats (with accessory covers) offer height adjustment and recline options. Levers for opening the fuel cap and boot are located next to each other. The pedals are for a manual transmission, including a dead pedal.

Driver’s Cockpit and Technology

Inside, the XT variant features a fully digital instrument cluster that displays various check lights. It comes with a new steering wheel that has an illuminated Tata logo in the center. The steering wheel also includes controls for telephone and infotainment. The steering can be adjusted for tilt. Manual controls for headlamps and wipers are on the stalks; automatic headlamps and wipers are available in the top models.

The digital cluster shows the RPM meter, speedometer, trip details, average mileage, range, fuel level, and temperature bars. A toggle button allows you to view more information like average fuel economy (it shows around 15.9 kmpl, but can deliver 19-20 kmpl depending on driving style) and audio information.

The center console has a hazard light switch and AC vents with a black finish and chrome surrounds. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered by Harman, supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, and Aux connectivity, though wired connections are needed. It also features park assist and a reverse parking camera, which can be activated by a button. A defogger switch is also present.

Below the infotainment system are manual AC controls for fan speed, temperature, and airflow. You’ll find a 12V charging outlet and a Type-A USB port, along with space for a phone or other items. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Notably, Tata Tiago (along with Tigor and Punch) offers an automatic transmission option even with the CNG variant, which is a segment-first feature from Tata. There are two glass holders and a manual handbrake.

For safety, the car is equipped with two airbags (for the driver and front passenger). The glove box offers space for tablets and documents. The IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) is manually adjustable. The passenger side sun visor has a vanity mirror, while the driver’s side has a ticket holder.

Engine Performance and Mileage

The Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This engine produces 85 BHP of power and about 113-114 Nm of torque. It delivers a mileage of around 18-19 kmpl with petrol, depending on driving conditions. The bonnet also features proper insulation.

If you opt for the CNG variant, while the power output might be slightly less, it offers an impressive mileage of 26-28 kmpl.

On-Road Pricing, Discounts, and Finance

For the Tata Tiago XT petrol manual variant, the ex-showroom price is ₹5,80,000. The on-road price, including RTO and insurance (excluding accessories), is ₹6,69,000. With available discounts of up to ₹20,000 (including insurance difference), the final on-road price comes down to ₹6,49,000 in Lucknow.

For the XT CNG variant, there’s roughly a ₹1 lakh difference. Its ex-showroom price is ₹6,72,000, and the on-road price is ₹7,72,000. After a discount of ₹22,000, the XT CNG variant costs ₹7,50,000 on-road in Lucknow.

Finance Example (for XT Petrol at ₹6,49,000 on-road):

  • With a down payment of ₹1,49,000, you would finance ₹5,00,000.
  • For a 3-year loan, the EMI would be ₹15,000.
  • For a 5-year loan, the EMI would be ₹10,403.

Why Choose This Hatchback?

This hatchback competes with cars like the Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. However, it stands out with its superior build quality. A key advantage is the availability of an automatic transmission option with the CNG variant, a feature uniquely offered by Tata in models like the Tiago, Tigor, and Punch.

Safety Features

The Tata Tiago comes with a 4-star safety rating and includes numerous safety features:

  • ABS with EBD
  • Dual Airbags
  • Reverse Parking Sensors
  • Reverse Parking Camera
  • Speed Alert System
  • Seatbelt Warning
  • Engine Immobilizer
  • Crash Sensor
  • ESP (Electronic Stability Program)

The Tata Tiago XT variant truly offers a compelling package of features, safety, and multiple fuel options, making it a strong contender in the hatchback segment.
