Exterior Design Differences

While both variants share the robust design of the Nissan Magnite, there are some noticeable distinctions in their exterior features.

Front Profile

The Nissan Magnite XL features a silver-colored skid plate at the front, adding to its rugged look. The Nissan Magnite XE comes with a black-colored skid plate. Both variants are equipped with 16-inch wheels, but the XL variant gets full wheel covers, while the XE has steel wheels with covers. Both also come with front disc brakes.

The Nissan Magnite XL includes gloss black outer rearview mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators. These ORVMs are electrically adjustable. In contrast, the Nissan Magnite XE has matte black ORVMs, and its turn indicators are placed on the front fenders. The XE’s ORVMs are manually adjustable and foldable. Both variants feature body-colored door handles and robust cladding along the sides.

Rear Profile

Similar to the front, the Nissan Magnite XL has a silver skid plate at the rear, whereas the Nissan Magnite XE features a black skid plate. Other rear features like the rear wiper, defogger, high stop lamp, roof rails, and the “Magnite” badging are common to both variants. Both also offer rear parking sensors for added convenience.

Step inside, and you’ll find more differences that impact comfort and convenience.

Audio and Climate Control

The Nissan Magnite XL comes with an integrated audio system and includes steering-mounted controls for easy access. It also offers a fully automatic climate control system for precise temperature management. The Nissan Magnite XE, being the base model, does not have an audio system or steering-mounted controls. It features a manual AC system.

Seating and Storage

Both variants offer power windows for all four doors and adjustable headrests for the rear seats. The Nissan Magnite XL includes a parcel tray in the boot, which is absent in the XE. While both have rear seats that fold 100% flat, neither the XE nor the XL offers a 60:40 split-fold option for the rear seats. Both variants feature a deep glove box.

Key and Other Features

The Nissan Magnite XL provides remote central locking with buttons on the key. The Nissan Magnite XE comes with a manual key. Neither variant offers a vanity mirror on the passenger or driver’s side.

Engine and Performance

The Nissan Magnite is available with two petrol engine options:

  • Naturally Aspirated (NA) Petrol Engine: This engine delivers “272 plus” power and 96 Nm of torque, offering a mileage of around 18 kmpl. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
  • Turbo Petrol Engine: This more powerful engine produces 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque, providing an estimated mileage of 19 kmpl. The turbo engine is available in the XL variant with both manual and CVT (automatic) transmission options.

Both variants have a 40-liter fuel tank capacity and a wheelbase of 2500 mm.

Safety Features

Safety is a priority in the Nissan Magnite. Both the XE and XL variants come standard with important safety features including:

  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Dual Airbags
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Seatbelt Warning System

Additionally, the Nissan Magnite XL offers enhanced safety and convenience features such as central locking and child safety locks, which are not present in the XE variant.

Which Variant is Right for You?

Considering the added features like the audio system with steering controls, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, remote central locking, and additional safety features, the Nissan Magnite XL stands out as a strong value-for-money option. While the XE is a great entry point into the compact SUV segment, the XL variant offers a more complete and comfortable driving experience for a reasonable price difference.
