Kwid Variants

The Renault Kwid comes in several variants. The base model is the RXE. Other available models include the RXL, RXL Option, and RXT. The top model is the Climber, which can also be chosen with a stylish dual-tone roof option.

Exterior Design and Dimensions

From the front, the Renault Kwid gives an SUV-like feel, similar to a compact Kiger. The front grille features a matt black finish with a large Renault logo and a chrome strip. This car comes with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) which are unique in its segment. The headlights are halogen, similar to other entry-level cars.

The Kwid offers a generous ground clearance of 184 mm. It also features roof rails that look like alloy wheels from a distance, adding to its stylish appeal.

Looking at the side, the Kwid has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. It rides on 14-inch radial tyres with a profile of 165/70 R14. Black cladding is present on the sides and around the wheel arches. The indicator lights are placed on the fender. The A-pillar is body-colored, and the Climber variant features a special badge on the side. The door handles and B-pillar are finished in a matt color. A wide door gliding strip runs along the doors, enhancing the car’s look.

The overall dimensions of the Renault Kwid are:

  • Length: 3731 mm
  • Width: 1579 mm
  • Height: 1490 mm
  • Wheelbase: Approximately 2400 mm

The rear profile of the Kwid features a matt black finish. The rear also has normal drum brakes. The side cladding continues to the back. The C-shaped tail lights house both indicators and reverse lights in the center. The black rear bumper includes a sporty skid plate. The rear suspension setup is visible. For safety, the Kwid comes with three rear parking sensors.

Practical Boot Space and Fuel Efficiency

The Renault Kwid offers a boot space of approximately 279 liters. While a parcel tray is not included, it can be added later. A 12V charging outlet is provided in the boot. The spare wheel is a full-size 14-inch tyre, the same as the main wheels, and the toolkit (jack, wrench) is also stored here. The rear seats are 100% foldable, allowing for more storage space.

The Kwid is available only with a petrol engine; there is no CNG option. It has a fuel tank capacity of 28 liters.

Color Options and Interior Comfort

The Renault Kwid is available in several attractive colors, including blue, red, grey, and white.

Inside, the rear door trim is black with a chrome door opener and a lock/unlock knob. The rear doors do not have power window controls on the door panels, and there are no speakers in the rear doors. The seats are fabric, primarily black with a yellow textured pattern that adds a nice touch.

For an entry-level car, the Kwid offers average legroom and thigh support. Two people can sit comfortably in the rear, but a third person might feel a bit cramped. The headrests are fixed, and seat belt points are provided. The entire rear seat can be folded flat to increase cargo space. There are no rear AC vents, but the front AC is sufficient to cool the small cabin. This compact car is a good option for city driving, small parking spaces, and those on a budget.

Front Cabin Features

The front door trim is black with a white strip, featuring a chrome door opener and a bottle holder. The dashboard is entirely black. The front fabric seats also feature Climber branding and yellow accents for a sporty feel. A seat belt reminder option is available.

Near the driver’s footwell, there are levers for the fuel lid and boot opener, along with the ABC (Accelerator, Brake, Clutch) pedals. The lever to open the bonnet is also present. Headlight controls are on a stalk, and the ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are electrically adjustable.

The driver gets an MD (Multi-information Display) screen that shows trip average, mileage, range, audio information, and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) data. The steering wheel is also present. The dashboard has a prominent Kwid branding. The car is equipped with two airbags: one for the driver and another on the passenger side dashboard.

The center console features black AC vents. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available, offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It includes options for radio, phone, media, and settings. The system also comes with an average quality reverse parking camera with guidelines.

Below the touchscreen, there is a hazard light switch and a central lock/unlock button. The front power window controls are also centrally located here, not on the doors. Manual AC controls allow adjustment of temperature and air flow. A 12V charging outlet, a Type A USB port, and an Aux port are provided for connectivity and charging. Small storage spaces for items and a coin holder are also available.

The Kwid comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, and an automatic transmission option is also available. A handbrake is present. The glove box offers good storage space for documents. The IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) is manually adjustable. A microphone is provided for calls, and the cabin roof light is yellow. Both driver and passenger sun visors are plain. Importantly, the two speakers are placed on the dashboard, not in the doors.

Engine Performance and Safety

The Renault Kwid is powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The bonnet also includes insulation. This engine produces 67 bhp of power and 96 Nm of torque. The claimed mileage for the Kwid is 20-21 kmpl.
