The Tata Altroz is a premium hatchback known for its impressive five-star safety rating. Today, we explore the features and pricing of the XM+ CNG variant. This car combines style, safety, and efficient performance for your daily drives.

Price and Available Variants

The price range for this premium hatchback starts around ₹6.60 lakh for the base XE model. The top model can go up to approximately ₹12 lakh (on-road, Lucknow).

This car is unique in its segment because it offers petrol, diesel, and CNG engine options. You can choose from various variants like XE, XM, XM+, XT, XZ, and XZ+. The XM+ CNG variant is considered great value for money, offering many useful features.

Front Design and Features

Looking at the front, the car has a sporty appearance. The grille is entirely black, featuring a large Tata logo. A chrome strip extends to the headlights.

In this variant, you get standard halogen headlights. Indicators are placed on the side. This particular XM+ CNG model does not include fog lamps or DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). The front bumper has a tow hook option, and the lower grille is also black. The car offers a good ground clearance of 165 mm, suitable for various road conditions. You will also notice a CNG sticker and a power antenna on the top.

Side Profile and Dimensions

From the side, the car looks quite appealing. It measures 3990 mm in length, 1755 mm in width, and 1523 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2501 mm.

This variant comes with 16-inch steel rims and wheel covers. The tire size is 185/60 R16. For braking, it features disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The side indicators are placed on the fender. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) have a glossy black finish and are auto-foldable, which is a convenient feature for the XM+ variant. The A-pillar matches the body color, while the B-pillars are in a matt black finish.

Comfortable Interior and Connectivity

Inside, the car offers a well-designed dashboard. The doors have a dual-tone theme. This variant includes a touchscreen infotainment system, along with steering-mounted controls for phone and music. However, it does not have cruise control on the steering wheel.

The digital instrument cluster shows all important information, including CNG and petrol fuel levels. The touchscreen is a 7-inch unit and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Manual AC controls are present, along with a USB port and a 12-volt charging outlet. There is also a small storage space for your phone. This variant has a 5-speed manual transmission. While petrol models offer a DCT automatic option, the CNG version is only available with a manual gearbox. Dual airbags are standard across all variants, ensuring safety.

The rear seats offer good legroom. The doors open wide at 90 degrees, making entry and exit easy. You will find child seat mounts, fixed headrests, and a parcel tray in the back.

Rear Design and Smart Boot Space

The rear profile of the Altroz XM+ CNG features the Tata logo and Altroz badging. This variant comes with halogen tail lights and an iCNG badge. It does not have a reverse parking camera, but it does include two ultrasonic parking sensors. There is no rear wiper or defogger in this model. A high-mounted stop lamp and a sporty glossy black spoiler add to the rear look.

One of the highlights of the CNG variant is its innovative boot space. Tata has used a twin-cylinder setup, with two 30 kg cylinders placed cleverly. This allows for a usable boot space of 210 liters, even with the CNG tanks. You can easily store small luggage bags. A puncture repair kit is also provided, and the spare wheel is located underneath the car. The car has a 37-liter petrol tank capacity and a special safety feature that prevents the car from starting if the CNG fuel cap is open. It also allows for direct starting on CNG.

Engine Performance and Mileage

The Tata Altroz offers robust engine options:

  • 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Revotron Petrol Engine: This engine delivers 88 bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque. It provides a mileage of approximately 19-20 kmpl.
  • CNG Variant (same 1.2-liter engine): When running on CNG, the power output is 73 bhp and the torque is 103 Nm. This variant offers an impressive mileage of around 26 kmpl.
  • 1.5-liter Turbocharged Revotorq Diesel Engine: For those preferring diesel, this engine produces 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, with a mileage of about 23-24 kmpl.
