The Tata Tiago CNG is a popular 4-star rated hatchback known for its features and safety. This article covers its price, different variants, exterior and interior details, engine performance, boot space, and advanced safety features.

Tata Tiago CNG Price and Variants

The Tata Tiago CNG starts with an ex-showroom price of 5,65,000 for its base model. The top model can go up to 8,00,000 plus for petrol variants and over 9,00,000 for CNG variants.

The available variants include XE (base model), XM, XT, XZ-Rhythm, and XZ+. If you prefer a sportier look, the Tiago NRG variant offers front and rear skid plates and increased ground clearance.

Exterior Styling and Design

The front of the Tata Tiago features a glossy black grille with a Tata logo. A chrome strip connects both headlamps. The headlamps are halogen-based, and this variant does not include fog lamps or DRLs, which are available in higher models. The lower grille is black.

The car offers a ground clearance of 170 mm. It has double wipers and a power antenna. On the side, you’ll see 14-inch hyperstyle steel rims, with 15-inch alloy wheels available in top variants. It uses 175/65 R14 radial tires. Disk brakes are at the front, and drum brakes are at the rear. The ORVMs are body-colored, electrically adjustable, and have integrated indicators. Door handles are body-colored, and the B-pillar has a matt black finish.

Advanced Safety Features and Build Quality

Safety is a key highlight of the Tata Tiago. It has received a 4-star safety rating in crash tests. This car offers unique safety features like direct start on CNG, a feature not commonly found in other cars in its segment.

Standard safety features include dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, a reverse parking camera (in XZ-Rhythm and above), a speed alert system, seat belt warning, engine immobilizer, and touch sensors.

Convenience and Interior Highlights

The Tiago comes with a flip remote central locking key and a normal manual key. Inside, the XZ-Rhythm variant features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Harman, supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a reverse parking camera. Manual AC controls are present.

The instrument cluster is fully digital, displaying speedometer, RPM meter, and fuel levels for both petrol and CNG. The multi-information display shows various car details. The steering wheel has controls for infotainment and calls, and it is tilt-adjustable.

The dashboard has a dual-tone black and beige finish. All four power window controls are on the driver’s door, along with ORVM adjustment. The seats are fabric, and the driver’s seat offers height adjustment. The rear seats feature two fixed headrests, three-point seatbelts, and child seat mounts. A white LED roof light is also provided. Rear passengers have bottle holders in the doors but no AC vents.

Engine Performance and Mileage

The Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. In petrol mode, it produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. When running on CNG, the power output is 73 PS and torque is 95 Nm.

The CNG variant offers a mileage of around 26 km/kg. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. An automatic manual transmission (AMT) option is also available with the CNG variant, a first-in-segment feature.

Boot Space and Fuel Capacity

A notable feature of the Tiago CNG is its twin-cylinder setup, where two smaller 30 kg CNG cylinders are placed beneath the boot floor. This smart design allows for more usable boot space, offering over 100 liters even with the cylinders.

The petrol tank has a capacity of 35 liters, and the CNG tank can hold 8-9 kg of CNG, depending on pump pressure. The spare wheel is located underneath the car for CNG variants.

Color Options and Warranty

The Tata Tiago is available in several attractive colors, including Blue, White, Grey, Red, and Midnight Black. The Tiago NRG variant also offers a Green color option.

The car comes with a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km, which can be extended for an additional cost.

Conclusion

The Tata Tiago CNG stands out as a strong choice in the hatchback segment. With its 4-star safety rating, innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology providing decent boot space, and a host of convenient features, it offers a compelling package for car buyers looking for a safe and fuel-efficient option.
