Get ready for the New Tata Altroz iCNG, a car that brings together safety and the efficiency of CNG. For car buyers looking for a premium hatchback with a CNG option, this model offers many new features. It is the first car in its segment to offer a sunroof along with a large boot space, making it a great choice for families.
Key Highlights
The Tata Altroz iCNG stands out with its twin-cylinder CNG setup, which allows for a surprisingly big boot space. It is also the first CNG car to come with an electric sunroof. This car holds a 5-star global safety rating, offering peace of mind for all passengers.
Exterior Design and Features
The front of the Altroz iCNG looks similar to the regular Altroz model. It features a glossy black grille with a Tata logo and a chrome strip that extends to the automatic projector headlights. These headlights offer low beam projectors and high beam halogens. You’ll also find side indicators, DRLs, and halogen fog lamps. The lower grille is black.
From the side, the car maintains its familiar look. It rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear wheels have drum brakes. The tires are sized 185/60 R16. The side mirrors automatically fold and unfold when you lock or unlock the car. A special feature is that all doors open wide up to 90 degrees, making it very easy to get in and out. The car has a ground clearance of about 165 millimeters.
At the rear, the iCNG model shows some important changes. There’s a glossy black strip across the back, a shark fin antenna, and a high-mounted stop lamp. You’ll also see an “iCNG” badge, a defogger, and a rear wiper. A reverse parking camera is also present. The bumper is body-colored and includes two reverse parking sensors.
Innovative Boot Space
One of the biggest benefits of the Altroz iCNG is its smart boot space. It uses a unique twin-cylinder setup for the CNG tanks. These cylinders are placed in a way that keeps them covered, making it hard to tell it’s a CNG car. This design frees up a good amount of space for your luggage. You get around 210 liters of boot space, which is impressive for a CNG hatchback.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Step inside the Altroz iCNG and you’ll find a dual-tone dashboard. Many updates have been added, including a fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, and an electric sunroof. The seats are made of black leatherette material, offering both height adjustment and recline options.
The fully digital instrument cluster shows all important information, including fuel levels for both petrol and CNG, trip details, and temperature. The steering wheel has controls for the infotainment system and phone calls. It is also tilt-adjustable for comfortable driving.
The center console features a 7-inch Harman infotainment system. This system supports Android Auto, USB, AUX, and even includes an air purifier. You can adjust the AC temperature directly from the infotainment screen. The car also comes with fully automatic climate control, a charging port, a USB port, and a Type-C port.
A cool new feature is the voice command for the sunroof. You can simply say “Sunroof open” or “Sunroof close” to operate it. The car also has ambient lighting, adding to the premium feel. Standard safety features include two airbags. The glove box offers deep storage with a tablet holder and light.
Engine Options and Performance
The Altroz iCNG is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
- When running on petrol, it produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque.
- When running on CNG, the power output is 73 PS and 103 Nm of torque. The car also has a 5-speed manual gearbox. For fuel filling, the petrol tank capacity is 37 liters, and the CNG nozzle allows for about 8-9 kilograms of CNG, depending on pump pressure. The engine is BS6 Phase 2 compliant.
