Today, we present a premium hatchback car, ready for delivery. This car is available in several variants: Era (base model), Magna, Sport, Asta, Asta (O), and for those seeking a sporty feel, the N-Line variant. This article focuses on the Sport Optional variant.
Sporty Exterior Design
The front of the car features large Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The lower grille has a glossy black finish, and the bumper looks very sporty. A proper engine guard is also provided underneath. The car offers a ground clearance of about 170 millimeters. You’ll notice creases on the bonnet and a dual wiper and washer setup.
From the side, the car looks largely unchanged. It comes with a 3-year, 1 lakh kilometer warranty, which can be extended. The car’s dimensions are 3995 mm in length, 1775 mm in width, and 1505 mm in height. The wheelbase remains 2580 mm. Front brakes are disc brakes, while the rear has drum brakes. The pillars are finished in matt black, and a chrome garnish on the side profile looks excellent.
The rear profile of this premium hatchback looks very sporty and strong. It features a high mount stop lamp in the center and a shark fin antenna. The i20 badge is on the left side. The dual-tone bumper includes reflectors, body-colored parts, and a glossy black skid plate. A reverse parking camera is placed near the nameplate, and the grey-finished skid plate looks very muscular. You can also see the rear suspension setup and the exhaust pipe.
Comfortable and Feature-Rich Interior
The interior features a dual-tone dashboard. The door trims also have a dual-tone design. The driver’s door includes controls for power windows, door lock/unlock, and ORVM adjustments (including folding and unfolding). There’s a soft-touch material on the driver’s door, which was not there before. The car comes with fabric seats that offer height adjustment and recline options for the driver. Manual transmission pedals (ABC pedals) and a dead pedal are present.
The steering wheel is fully digital with a large instrument cluster. It shows a 220 km/h marking, an RPM meter, and an MID screen displaying information like TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), fuel economy, mileage, range, and audio details. Controls for automatic headlamps and wipers are also on the steering.
At the center, there’s an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports applications, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, and AUX connectivity. The reverse parking camera offers excellent quality. Below the screen, you’ll find controls for media and a hazard light switch. The AC vents have a black finish. The car features fully automatic climate control with its own set of controls and temperature display.
Further down, there’s a 12-volt charging outlet, Type-C and Type-A USB ports, and a wireless charging pad. This variant adds the wireless charging pad, a sunroof, and automatic climate control as key upgrades. The car has a 5-speed manual transmission, two glass holders, a handbrake, and an armrest with storage.
For safety, six airbags are standard: one in the steering, one on the dashboard, two in the front seats, and two in the pillars. The glove box is cooled. Above, there’s a manually adjustable IRVM, a sunglass holder, and a yellow roof light. A favorite feature, the sunroof, is now available from this Sport Optional variant. Both sun visors include a ticket holder and a vanity mirror.
Rear passengers get AC vents and a USB port. The rear cabin offers good legroom and headroom. The rear door trims also have grab handles and small quarter glasses. There’s a parcel tray at the back for small items. All headrests are fixed, and three-point seatbelts are provided for all rear passengers.
Practical Boot Space
The car offers a 311-liter boot space, which is adequate for this segment. You can easily fit luggage bags and other items. A normal steel spare tire is located in the boot, along with the jack and tool kit. Hooks are provided for hanging bags. A parcel tray is also included and can be removed if needed.
Engine Performance and Efficiency
This hatchback is powered by a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder Kappa Petrol engine. It produces 82 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque. The car delivers an approximate mileage of 19 km/l.
