Today, we are looking at the Kia Sonet HK+ variant, presented in a sleek black color. This SUV starts at an ex-showroom price of 7.9 lakhs, with the top model reaching 17 to 18 lakhs. The HK+ variant offers many features, making it a valuable choice for those seeking a “value for money” option. It comes with a smart and premium key, featuring Kia branding and buttons for lock, unlock, and boot release.

Stylish Exterior Design

From the front, the Sonet HK+ looks very muscular. It features a glossy black front grille with Kia branding. The daytime running lights (DRLs) have a striking design, and you’ll find indicators nearby. It includes halogen-based automatic headlamps and white LED fog lamps. Four front parking sensors are present, providing alerts for objects ahead. The front bumper has a black lower grille and a grey-finished skid plate. The car offers a good ground clearance of 205 mm.

Moving upwards, it has dual wipers and washers, and a plain roof. Roof rails are also present. For those interested, a sunroof option is available from the HTK Optional variant onwards.

From the side, this black SUV looks impressive. It comes with a 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty, which can be extended. The car features stylish 16-inch wheels, though they are not actual alloys. The tires are 215/60 R16 radials. Black cladding runs along the side. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are auto-foldable and include integrated indicators. The A-pillar and door handles are body-colored.

The Sonet measures 3995 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, and 1642 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear has drum brakes. The fuel tank capacity is 45 liters, and it uses petrol.

The rear profile of the car is equally muscular, featuring connected taillights. Besides black, other color options include red, white, silver, green, and blue. Dual-tone options are also available. The Kia logo is in the center, with “Sonet” badging below. It has a defogger but no rear wiper on this variant. A high-mount stop lamp and a shark fin antenna are visible. The bumper is dual-tone (black and grey) with a muscular skid plate. You’ll find a reverse light, a reverse parking camera near the number plate, and two rear parking sensors.

The boot space is a generous 392 liters, offering ample room for luggage. The rear seats are 100% foldable. The spare wheel is a 15-inch unit, placed below the boot floor, along with the jack and tool kit. Hooks are also provided in the boot.

Spacious and Feature-Rich Interior

Stepping inside, the door trims are all black with a grey door opener. A notable feature is the sun blinds provided for the rear windows. Power window controls, a speaker, and a bottle holder are on the door. The seats are fabric. For rear passengers, there are AC vents and space to place a phone. Two USB ports are also available. The legroom and thigh support are comfortable for two people, and a third person can also fit, though with a slight hump in the middle. Grab handles and six airbags (standard) are present, with branding on the front seats and pillars. The rear headrests are fixed. The roof light is a regular halogen bulb.

For the front passengers, the door trim includes controls for all four power windows, lock/unlock buttons, and ORVM adjustments (including auto-fold). The door opener is grey, and there are tweeters, a speaker, and a bottle holder. The fabric seats offer height adjustment and seat recline options. Below the driver’s seat, you’ll find the fuel lid opener, manual transmission pedals, and the bonnet release lever. Other controls include the push-engine start/stop button, traction control switch, front parking sensor on/off switch, idle start/stop button, and headlamp adjustment.

The dashboard features a fully digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel has a Kia logo, media controls, and telephonic/infotainment controls. Cruise control is not available in this variant. The steering is tilt-adjustable and has some silver finishing. Automatic headlamp controls are on one side, and manual wiper controls on the other. The digital cluster shows an RPM meter, digital speedometer, and a multi-information display (MID) that shows range, trip, average mileage, and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also displays driving time, temperature, and fuel gauge.

The dashboard is all black and features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The AC vents have silver accents. Below the AC vents, there’s a 12V charging outlet, Type-A and Type-C USB ports, and a small storage space for a phone. This variant has a 5-speed manual transmission. It also includes two glass holders, a handbrake, and an armrest with storage space. The glove box is spacious for documents and other items. Six airbags are standard across all variants. A sunglass holder and a vanity mirror are also provided.

Overall, the Kia Sonet HK+ offers essential features like a touchscreen, reverse parking camera, automatic climate control, six airbags, traction control, TPMS, digital cluster, and height-adjustable seats, making it a complete package.

Powerful Engine Options

The Kia Sonet is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-liter petrol engine (non-turbo) delivers 82 BHP of power and 115 Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of approximately 19-20 kmpl.

Alternatively, you can choose the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. For those preferring diesel, a 1.5-liter diesel engine is available, producing 114 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine offers a higher mileage of about 22-23 kmpl.
