Experience Luxury and Power: A Look at the Mahindra XUV700

The Mahindra XUV700 stands out as India’s top-selling, feature-loaded, and muscular SUV. We’re taking a detailed look at its top-of-the-line A7 Luxury Diesel variant, exploring its features and pricing.

Pricing and Available Options

The Mahindra XUV700 starts with an ex-showroom price of around 14 Lakhs. The top model can go up to approximately 28 Lakhs on-road in Lucknow. This impressive SUV offers both diesel and petrol engine options. You can choose from five distinct variants: MX, AX3, AX5, AX7, and the range-topping AX7 Luxury model. A 4-wheel drive option is also available for those seeking enhanced capability.

Striking Exterior Design

The XUV700 boasts a muscular front profile. It features the signature Mahindra ‘Butterfly’ logo on the grille, which is finished in glossy black with a vertical design. For advanced safety and convenience, a 360-degree camera is integrated. The lighting setup includes automatic LED headlamps and bright LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), providing excellent illumination at night. Fog lamps are positioned in the front bumper, which also has a black lower grille. An engine guard is provided for protection underneath. The vehicle offers a substantial 200 millimeters of ground clearance.

Moving to the side, the XUV700 presents a strong and proportionate stance. It measures 4695 millimeters in length, 1890 millimeters in width, and 1755 millimeters in height. The wheelbase is 2750 millimeters. The SUV comes with 18-inch brushed alloy wheels featuring the Mahindra logo. All variants are equipped with all-wheel disc brakes for superior stopping power. The tires are sized 235/60 R18. Black body cladding runs along the lower side, and the outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are dual-toned, housing turn indicators and camera placement. The B-pillar has a glossy black finish. Unique pop-out door handles add to its modern appeal. The fuel filler cap is for diesel, and there’s also a separate cap for urea.

The rear profile is equally commanding, featuring the Mahindra logo and ‘XUV700’ badging, along with the ‘AX7 Luxury’ variant badge. It sports attractive LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators and a horizontal reverse light. The rear bumper houses reverse parking sensors and reflectors. A skid plate is present below, along with the exhaust pipe.

Robust Safety and Dimensions

The Mahindra XUV700 has achieved a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP in crash tests, highlighting its strong build quality and commitment to passenger protection. Its substantial dimensions contribute to a commanding road presence. Mahindra offers a 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty, which can be extended to 5 years.

Spacious and Feature-Rich Interior

Stepping inside, the XUV700 offers a premium and spacious cabin. The dashboard features a dual-tone, leather-touch finish. The seats are upholstered in white leather. The door trims also follow a dual-tone theme with silver accents, glossy black door handles, power window controls, a speaker, and a bottle holder. The front seats are electrically adjustable with a memory function, allowing three different settings to be saved. Scuff plates are present at the entry.

The second row provides generous legroom, knee room, and thigh support, ensuring a comfortable ride for passengers. Rear AC vents, a USB Type-C port, and ample storage are also available. The third row, while comfortable for children, might be a bit snug for a 6-foot adult, especially with reclined second-row seats. It includes AC vents, grab handles, a charging port, glass holders, and adjustable headrests. When the third row is folded, the boot space expands significantly to around 400 liters, compared to limited space with all seats upright. Under the boot floor, you’ll find the spare wheel, jack, and tool kit.

The driver’s cockpit is a hub of advanced technology. The pop-out door handles, a top model feature, extend when the car is unlocked. The smart flip key includes lock and unlock buttons with the Mahindra logo. The dashboard is fully digital, featuring a luxurious instrument cluster that displays RPM, speed, and a multi-information display (MID). The MID shows driving information, alerts, settings, display layouts, drive assist features, and navigation.

The XUV700 comes with Adaptive Cruise Control and a multifunction steering wheel. The steering wheel houses controls for cruise control, ADAS features, infotainment, and telephony. Automatic headlamp controls and wiper controls are on stalks behind the steering.

Advanced Infotainment and Connectivity

The centerpiece of the cabin is a dual 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, providing a premium feel. It offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, along with various pre-installed applications. The 360-degree camera provides a comprehensive view around the vehicle, aiding in parking and maneuvering. A high-quality Sony sound system enhances the audio experience, supporting USB, AUX, and Bluetooth connectivity. The system also features AdrenoX badging.

Convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, two USB ports, and ample phone storage space. The car features a six-speed manual gearbox, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and a glossy black center console. A shortcut rotary knob on the console allows easy control of the infotainment system without distractions. The armrest has a storage compartment, and the glovebox is illuminated. The SUV is equipped with a large panoramic sunroof, providing an open-air feel. LED cabin lights and SOS/E-Call buttons are also present.

Powerful Engine Options

The Mahindra XUV700 offers strong performance with its choice of engines:

  • Diesel Engine: A 2.2-liter 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine produces 182 BHP of power and 420 Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of approximately 15 kmpl.
  • Petrol Engine: A 2.0-liter turbo mStallion petrol engine generates 197 BHP of power and 380 Nm of torque, with an estimated mileage of 13 kmpl.
