The Hyundai Venue has become a very popular compact SUV, and today we explore its most sought-after variant: the HX5 petrol model. This black-colored SUV combines style, comfort, and advanced features, making it a perfect choice for many car buyers.

Price and Value

The base model of the Hyundai Venue starts at ₹7,90,000. The HX5 petrol variant has an on-road price of ₹12,03,000 (as of January 1, 2026), after considering accessories worth ₹27,000 and a year-end discount of ₹35,000. For financing options, a down payment of ₹23,000 is possible. If you finance ₹8,00,000, your monthly payments could be ₹25,000 for 3 years, ₹16,000 for 5 years, or ₹12,912 for 7 years.

Exterior Design Highlights

The new generation Hyundai Venue features a completely updated design. The front profile is muscular and bold, especially in black. It has chrome accents around the DRLs, giving a connected look, though the DRLs themselves are separate from the indicators. The car comes with yellow projector headlamps and a black front grille. A matt black lower grille and a muscular grey skid plate add to its robust appearance. The ground clearance is 195mm.

From the side, the HX5 variant includes a sunroof, a feature not available in lower models. It also comes with a smart key. The wheels have covers, and the front gets disc brakes. Apollo tires are offered, with a 195/65 R15 section for the petrol variants (15-inch steel rims). Black cladding runs along the side. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are auto-foldable, unfolding when the car is unlocked and folding when locked, with integrated indicators. The A and B pillars, along with door handles, are body-colored. Door visors and door guards are available as accessories.

The rear of the Venue HX5 features connected backlights, though only a part of them lights up. The indicators are placed below. A large “Venue” badge is located within the glass, along with the Hyundai logo and a defogger. There is a high mount stop lamp but no rear wiper. A shark fin antenna and reflectors are also present. For parking, there are four reverse parking sensors and a camera near the number plate. A stylish silver-finish skid plate completes the rear look. The fuel filler cap is on the side, and the fuel tank capacity is around 45 liters. Diesel variants also require AdBlue/DEF.

Spacious Boot and Interior Comfort

The Hyundai Venue now offers a generous 375 liters of boot space, an increase of 30 liters from the previous model. While a parcel tray is not included, a slot for one is provided. A spare wheel (15-inch steel), jack, and toolkit are found in the boot. The rear seats are 100% foldable, providing flexible cargo space.

Inside, the Venue HX5 offers a comfortable and modern experience. The door trims are black, with power window controls and bottle holders. The seats are upholstered in fabric, with cushioning available as an accessory. The car comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and six airbags as standard, even from the basic model. The HX5 variant adds a smart key and sunroof compared to the HX4.

The rear cabin boasts good legroom, knee room, and thigh support, thanks to a 20mm increase in wheelbase. Rear AC vents and two Type-C USB ports enhance passenger comfort. Two headrests and three-point seatbelts are provided, along with ISOFIX child seat mounts for safety.

Driver-Focused Dashboard and Features

The driver’s area of the Venue HX5 features a new steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel includes controls for telephone and infotainment, as well as the Multi-Information Display (MID). The MID shows information like drive assist, cluster settings, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The steering wheel is tilt-adjustable for driver convenience.

The dual-tone dashboard has silver-finish AC vents. The 10.25-inch touchscreen supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, and Aux connectivity, and includes a reverse camera display. Below, the manual AC panel offers controls for fan speed, temperature, and air flow. Storage space is available, along with two Type-C USB ports and a 12V charging outlet. The car has a 5-speed manual transmission in the petrol variant. There is no armrest in the HX5 variant, which is available in the HX6 and higher trims. The glove box is normal, without a cooling function. The electric sunroof, a key feature, can be operated with simple controls.

Powerful Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency

The Hyundai Venue offers three engine options:

  • 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder Petrol Engine: This engine produces 82 BHP of power and 113-114 Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of 18-19 kmpl, depending on driving style.
  • 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder CRDi Diesel Engine: This robust engine delivers 114 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. It is highly fuel-efficient, offering over 20 kmpl.
  • 1.0-liter Turbo Petrol Engine: This option provides additional power and performance.

Advanced Safety Features

Safety is a priority in the Hyundai Venue HX5. It comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including:

  • ABS with EBD (Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)
  • Six Airbags (standard from the base model)
  • Reverse Parking Sensors
  • Reverse Parking Camera
  • Speed Alert System
  • Seat Belt Warning
  • Engine Immobilizer

  • ESP (Electronic Stability Program)
  • TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

Competitor Landscape

The Hyundai Venue competes with other popular compact SUVs in the market, such as the Tata Nexon, Mahindra 3XO, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The new generation Venue stands out with its enhanced looks, improved features, and overall appeal. While the HX5 offers excellent value, higher variants like the HX10 further add premium features such as a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems).

The Hyundai Venue HX5 petrol variant offers a compelling package of style, features, performance, and safety, making it a strong contender in the compact SUV segment.
