Discover the Nissan Magnite Jaya Plus: A Feature-Packed Compact SUV

The Nissan Magnite has made its mark in the compact SUV segment, and today we’re taking a closer look at the Jaya Plus variant. This second-to-base model offers a compelling package, especially in its striking black color, blending style with practicality. It comes with several desirable features that enhance its appeal over the base model.

Bold Exterior Design

From the front, the Magnite Jaya Plus presents a muscular and imposing stance. It features a large, dominant black grille with the Nissan logo at its center, giving it a powerful road presence. The halogen headlights include integrated indicators. While higher variants offer DRLs, the Jaya Plus features chrome inserts for a premium touch. The lower grille and black cladding around the car further contribute to its muscular SUV feel.

The vehicle boasts an impressive 205 mm of ground clearance, making it suitable for various road conditions. The roof comes with silver roof rails, a standard feature even from the base model, adding to its rugged look. Dual wipers and a washer are also included.

From the side, the Jaya Plus rides on 16-inch steel rims, a feature available from the base variant. The tyre profile is 195/60 R16 radial tyres. For stopping power, it has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The side profile also features black cladding that runs along the length of the car. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are finished in matte black and are manually adjustable and foldable. Interestingly, chrome door handles are offered as standard from the base variant, a premium touch.

The rear profile continues the bold design with its black color. It features the Nissan logo and Magnite badging. Halogen taillights include regular bulbs for indicators and reverse lights. Higher variants like the Tekna offer LED taillights. Other rear features include a high-mount stop lamp, an integrated spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. The rear bumper is blacked out and includes reflectors. For easier parking, the Jaya Plus comes with four reverse parking sensors and a reverse parking camera.

Practical and Feature-Rich Interior

Stepping inside the Magnite Jaya Plus, you’ll find a black-themed dashboard. The seats are made of fabric, though leather seats are an option in the top variant. The driver’s seat offers recline adjustment. The door trims are also black and include power window controls, a door opener, a speaker, and a bottle holder. A useful armrest is also present.

The Jaya Plus variant includes several interior upgrades compared to the base model. It comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with USB, AUX, and Bluetooth connectivity. A reverse parking camera is also a welcome addition. The car features manual AC controls for fan speed, temperature, and airflow. Below these controls, there’s space for a phone and a 12V charging outlet.

The driver gets a fully digital instrument cluster, displaying the RPM meter, speedometer, various check lights, fuel gauge, and temperature bars. It also provides information like trip A, trip B, range, mileage, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The steering wheel features the Nissan logo and is tilt-adjustable, providing a comfortable driving position. Headlight and wiper controls are conveniently located on the stalks.

For passenger comfort, the rear seats offer good legroom, knee room, and thigh support. The absence of a central hump makes it comfortable for three occupants. Two adjustable headrests are provided, along with three-point seatbelts. A rear armrest with two glass holders and phone storage is also available. While there are no rear AC vents in this variant, storage spaces are ample. The glove box offers decent space and includes a USB port for the touchscreen.

The boot space measures 336 liters, which is practical for luggage. The rear seats feature a 60:40 split, allowing for flexible cargo arrangements. The spare wheel is a 14-inch steel rim, two sizes smaller than the main wheels, and the toolkit is conveniently placed alongside it.

Engine Options and Performance

The Nissan Magnite offers a choice of two engine options. The Jaya Plus variant typically features the 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder non-turbo petrol engine. This engine produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque, delivering a claimed mileage of up to 19 kmpl.

For those seeking more power, there’s also a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine option. This more powerful unit generates 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque, with a claimed mileage of 18-19 kmpl. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission, with a CVT option also available for the turbo variant. The engine bay includes proper insulation under the bonnet.

Safety is a key highlight in the Nissan Magnite. The Jaya Plus comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features to ensure occupant protection. These include:

  • ABS with EBD (Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)
