The Tata Tiago is a popular compact car, and we’re here to talk about its all-new updated model, specifically the XTB variant. This car comes with many enhancements and offers a great package for urban drivers.

Top-Notch Safety: A 4-Star Rating

One of the most important aspects of the new Tata Tiago is its impressive safety. It has achieved a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP, providing peace of mind for you and your passengers. Standard safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system, central locking, and child safety locks.

Engine Options and Performance

The Tata Tiago offers versatile engine choices. You can get it with a powerful and efficient 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This engine delivers 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, offering a good balance for city and highway driving. The petrol model provides a mileage of around 20 km/l.

For those looking for even greater fuel efficiency, the Tiago also comes with a CNG option. Both petrol and CNG engine options are available, catering to different driving needs. While the petrol variant offers both manual and automatic transmission choices, the CNG version is available only with a manual gearbox.

Variants and Pricing

The Tata Tiago is available in several variants to suit different preferences and budgets. The range includes the XB, XT, XZ, and the top-tier XZ+ models.

The price for the new Tata Tiago starts from approximately ₹5,45,000 (ex-showroom). The top variant can go up to around ₹8,00,000 (ex-showroom). The updated XTB petrol variant, for instance, is priced at about ₹6,20,000 (ex-showroom), which comes to roughly ₹7,00,000 on-road in Lucknow. Higher variants also offer a stylish dual-tone color option.

Modern Exterior Design

The updated Tata Tiago XTB variant boasts a refreshed look. The front features a black grille with a unique tri-arrow design and a chrome line that extends to the headlamps. The headlamps are halogen-based with integrated indicators. While fog lamps are not standard on the XTB, housing is provided, allowing for an easy upgrade. The car rides on 14-inch Hyperstyle wheels with 175/65 R14 tires, which were previously found in higher variants.

Key features on the side include glossy black electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated indicators, body-colored door handles, and blacked-out pillars. The roof is plain, topped with a power antenna. The ground clearance stands at a comfortable 170 mm. At the rear, you’ll find the Tata logo, Tiago badging, and halogen tail lights. Two ultrasonic parking sensors are integrated into the rear bumper.

Comfortable and Connected Interior

Step inside the Tata Tiago XTB, and you’ll notice a practical and comfortable cabin. The dual-tone dashboard adds a premium touch. A significant update for the XTB variant is the height-adjustable driver seat, allowing for a more personalized driving position.

The car features an audio system with Bluetooth, USB, and AUX support, controlled by touch-responsive buttons and steering-mounted controls. All four power windows are controlled from the door panel. Other conveniences include a 12V charging socket, a USB port, and ample storage space. The manual air conditioning controls are easy to use. The instrument cluster provides essential information such as speed, fuel gauge, trip meters, and temperature.

Practicality: Boot Space and Dimensions

The Tata Tiago is designed for city driving with good dimensions:

  • Length: 3765 mm
  • Width: 1677 mm
  • Height: 1535 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2400 mm

The car offers a decent boot space of 242 liters, which is suitable for daily needs. However, if you opt for the CNG variant, the boot space will be reduced due to the CNG cylinder. A steel spare wheel is provided. The fuel tank capacity is 35 liters.

Warranty and Competition

The Tata Tiago comes with a standard warranty of 2 years or 75,000 km, which can be extended up to 5 years.

In the competitive compact car segment, the Tata Tiago goes head-to-head with models like the Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Nios, and Maruti Swift. Its strong points include a robust build quality, a high safety rating, and the availability of a CNG option even in its top variants, offering a compelling choice for car buyers.
