The Tata Nexon is India’s top-selling muscular SUV. Today, we look at the all-new Tata Nexon Pure variant. This is the second base variant of this popular 5-star rated car. It offers a great mix of features and value.
Price and Available Variants
The Tata Nexon’s starting price for the base model is ₹8,10,000 (ex-showroom). The top model can go up to around ₹17,00,000 (on-road Lucknow). The Nexon offers four main variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless. Each variant also has more sub-variants. The Petrol Pure variant is priced at ₹9,70,000 (ex-showroom) and around ₹10,97,000 (on-road Lucknow).
Bold Exterior Design and Features
The Nexon has a very futuristic and strong look. The Pure variant, seen here in grey, comes with a flip remote interlocking key. This key has buttons for lock, unlock, and follow-me-home lights, along with the Tata logo. A manual key is also included. From the second base variant, you get a full LED headlamp setup. The Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and indicators are dual-functional. The front features a Tata logo in the center and a gloss black front grille. The lower grille has also been changed to an all-black design with a new pattern.
For side appeal, the car has a plain roof, and roof rails. A shark fin antenna is at the rear. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) include indicators and are electrically adjustable. The A-pillar is blacked out. The door handles are in a matt black finish.
Impressive Dimensions and Ground Clearance
The Tata Nexon is a well-sized SUV. It has a length of 3995 mm, a width of 1804 mm, and a height of 1620 mm. The wheelbase measures 2498 mm. The car also boasts a generous ground clearance of 208 mm, making it suitable for varied road conditions.
The Nexon Pure variant comes with 16-inch steel rims and stylish wheel covers. The tire profile is 195/60 R16. For braking, it has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
Practical Boot Space and Wheels
The rear profile of the Nexon features connected tail lamps. In this lower variant, only a part of the tail lamp lights up, with indicators placed on the side. The rear has a Tata logo, but this variant does not include a reverse parking camera, defogger, or rear wiper. It does have a spoiler, the shark fin antenna, and a Nexon badge on a blacked-out bumper. Two reverse parking sensors are also present.
The boot space has increased, now offering 382 liters, up from 350 liters previously. The boot can be unlocked using a switch located inside the car; higher variants allow access from the rear. Inside the boot, you’ll find a steel rim spare wheel, jack, and tools. The rear seats are 100% foldable. There is no parcel tray, but a 12V charging outlet is available in the boot.
Comfortable and Safe Interior
Inside, the Tata Nexon Pure variant features fabric seats throughout. The door panels have a door opener, handle, power window controls, speakers, and a bottle holder. The front seats only offer a recline option, not height adjustment. There are manual transmission ABC pedals, but no dead pedal in this variant. The fuel lid opener and bonnet release lever are also within easy reach.
For rear passengers, the car offers rear AC vents. While there is no charging outlet in the rear, the 2498 mm wheelbase ensures comfortable space. The rear seats also have adjustable headrests, even from this second base variant. The Nexon is known for its safety, offering six airbags as standard, with curtain airbags clearly visible. Child locks are also included in the doors.
Advanced Dashboard and Infotainment
The dashboard has a dual-tone finish. It features a full digital instrument cluster that shows various check lights, trip information, average mileage, range, and ODO readings. The new steering wheel has an illuminated Tata logo, along with controls for telephony, infotainment, and the MID (Multi-Information Display). The steering is also tilt-adjustable.
This variant includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, and AUX connectivity. There is no reverse parking camera, but the display shows sensor-based parking assistance. The climate control is a touch panel with controls for fan speed, temperature, and other functions. Below the climate control, you’ll find a 12V charging outlet and a USB port.
The Tata Nexon Pure comes with a six-speed manual transmission, though an automatic option is also available in the model range. It offers three drive modes: City, Eco, and Sport, allowing you to choose your driving preference. The center console includes two glass holders and storage space. This variant does not have an armrest.
