Price and Options

The Tata Tiago starts from ₹5,60,000. The top-model XZ+ CNG variant costs around ₹8,50,000 on-road in Lucknow. If you prefer the petrol version, it is about ₹7,10,000 on-road. This shows roughly a ₹1,00,000 difference between the petrol and CNG options.

You can choose from petrol and CNG engine options. The Tiago is available in five variants: XE, XM, XT, XZ, and XZ+. Color options include single-tone and dual-tone, with specific choices like Midnight Plum, Grey, Red, and Blue.

Exterior Design and Features

The front profile of the car features a bold look. The grille has a Tri-arrow design with chrome inserts and proudly displays the Tata logo. Projector headlamps and side indicators illuminate the road. Below, you’ll find halogen-based fog lamps with integrated DRLs.

The side profile shows its compact dimensions: a length of 3765 mm, a width of 1677 mm, and a height of 1535 mm. The wheelbase is 2400 mm. It comes with ‘look-like’ Hyperstyle steel wheels, which are 14-inch with 175/65 R14 tires. The door handles are finished in chrome. The glossy black outside mirrors are auto-foldable and include integrated turn indicators.

At the rear, the car features a high-mount stop lamp, a rear wiper, and a defogger. The Tata logo and Tiago badging are prominent. Top models also get a stylish chrome strip.

Ground Clearance and Safety

The car offers a comfortable ground clearance of 170 mm. Safety is a priority, with the Tiago boasting a 4-star safety rating. It provides a 3-year or 1,00,000 km warranty. The car competes with models like the Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, but Tata vehicles are known for their robust build quality.

Intelligent CNG Technology

The Tiago’s iCNG technology stands out. This system includes advanced safety features, such as an auto-cut mechanism in case of fire. A significant advantage is the ability to directly start the car on CNG, unlike some competitors which require a petrol start.

The petrol tank capacity is 35 liters. The CNG nozzle is located conveniently next to it. The CNG tank can hold approximately 8 kg of gas when fully empty, though this depends on pump pressure. The tank capacity is about 55 to 60 liters. The boot space is completely occupied by the CNG tank, leaving no room for luggage. A parcel tray is provided for small items. The spare wheel is placed below.

Interior Comfort and Features (Rear)

The car features a dual-tone dashboard. The rear door panels have chrome-finished handles, power window controls, speakers, and bottle holders. The seats are upholstered in fabric, with seat covers added as accessories. Child locks are also present on the rear doors.

While there are no rear AC vents, a bottle holder is provided for passenger convenience. Legroom and knee-room are adequate for two adults, but three might find it a bit snug. Fixed headrests are present, but there is no rear armrest. Seat pockets are available for storage.

Driver’s Cockpit and Technology

The driver’s seat offers height adjustment and recline options. The car features a remote central locking flip key, with a manual key also provided. Keyless entry is available in other Tiago variants.

The dual-tone dashboard houses a fully digital instrument cluster. It displays essential information like a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), fuel levels (CNG and petrol), trip details, and time. The steering wheel, adorned with the Tata logo, includes controls for the infotainment system and telephone. It is tilt-adjustable.

The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a combination of four speakers and two tweeters. A fully automatic climate control system ensures a comfortable cabin temperature. The display for fan speed and temperature is integrated.

The car also features a reverse parking camera, with its feed displayed on the infotainment screen. Below, you’ll find the CNG to petrol converter switch and controls for fog lamps. Other amenities include a charging outlet, a USB port, and a small storage space. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic option available in petrol variants. Dual airbags are standard across all variants, ensuring passenger safety.

Engine Performance and Mileage

The Tiago is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine. In petrol mode, it produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, offering a mileage of 20-22 kmpl. When running on CNG, the engine delivers 72 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque, with an impressive mileage of approximately 26 kmpl.

Comprehensive Safety Features

The Tiago is equipped with a range of safety features including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). It comes with dual airbags, a reverse parking camera, speed warning alerts, an engine immobilizer, and crash sensors. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) further enhances safety. These features contribute to its commendable 4-star safety rating.

Conclusion
