Tiago NRG: Sporty Hatchback with Enhanced Features and Safety

The Tiago NRG stands out with its sporty looks, higher ground clearance, and rugged design elements. This article covers the XZ NRG variant in detail, highlighting its unique features and specifications.

Exterior Design: A Sporty Look

The Tiago NRG offers a more muscular and rugged appearance compared to the regular Tiago. It features increased ground clearance, roof rails, and skid plates for an adventurous feel.

Front Profile

The front has a strong look with a black grille featuring a tri-arrow design. It includes normal halogen headlights with indicators, fog lamps, and a towing option. The muscular “add-on” bumper with a skid plate is a key feature of the NRG variant. The ground clearance is 181 mm, higher than the regular Tiago’s 170 mm. It also has dual wipers.

Side Profile

The side view reveals a length of 3802 mm, width of 1677 mm, and height of 1537 mm. The height is 2 mm more due to the roof rails. It comes with 14-inch Hyperstyle steel wheels that look like alloys, with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The ORVMs are glossy black with integrated indicators and are electrically adjustable. Roof rails are specific to the NRG variant. The fuel tank capacity is 35 liters, supporting both petrol and CNG options.

Rear Profile

The rear features the car’s logo in the center and NRG badging. It has normal halogen tail lights with integrated indicators, a rear wiper, defogger, and a high-mount stop lamp. There are two ultrasonic parking sensors on the bumper, along with a skid plate. The exhaust pipe is visible underneath.

Interior Features: Comfort and Convenience

The Tiago NRG offers a comfortable and practical interior with various convenience features.

Dashboard and Controls

The dashboard has an all-black finish. This variant comes with a fully digital instrument cluster that displays speed, RPM, fuel level, temperature, and other vehicle information like trip details and average mileage (up to 20 kmpl claimed). The steering wheel has controls for the audio system and telephone. It is tilt-adjustable. The car features dual airbags, standard for all variants. An AC with a grey surrounding is present, along with a Harman audio system that offers Bluetooth, USB, and Aux connectivity. Below, there are manual AC controls, a Type-A USB port, and a 12V charging outlet. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, with an automatic option also available. The glove box is normal (not cooled).

Seating and Space

The seats are fabric, often fitted with covers as accessories. They offer height adjustment and recline options. In the rear, there are no AC vents. Legroom and knee room are adequate, supported by a 2400 mm wheelbase. Fixed headrests are provided, but there is no armrest. The cabin roof light is white.

Boot Space

The boot offers 242 liters of space, similar to the regular Tiago. It includes a parcel tray. A puncture repair kit and a normal steel spare tire are located here. The CNG variant also offers this boot space setup.

Performance and Safety

The Tiago NRG provides reliable performance with strong safety features.

Engine Options

The Tiago NRG is available with both petrol and CNG engine options.

Safety Features

This car has a 4-star safety rating. Standard safety features include ABS with EBD, dual airbags, reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system, seat belt warning, engine immobilizer, and crash sensors.

Variants and Pricing

The Tiago has five variants: XE, XM, XT, XZ, XZ+ Rhythm. The NRG specific variant discussed here is the XZ NRG. The NRG line has two variants in total. The starting ex-showroom price for the base model is 5.60 lakhs, and the top model can go beyond 8 lakhs on-road. The XZ NRG variant is priced at 6.70 lakhs (ex-showroom) and around 7.50 lakhs (on-road).
