Pricing and Models

The Tata Tiago starts with an ex-showroom price of around ₹5.49 lakhs. The top-end models can go up to approximately ₹7.46 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Tiago range offers a total of five variants, including the Base XE and the XZ+. While the current model primarily focuses on petrol, it is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The XZ+ CNG variant provides an attractive option for reduced running costs.

Bold Exterior Design

Front Profile

The front of the Tata Tiago features a prominent Tata logo and a striking Tri-Arrow design grille. This grille is complemented by chrome inserts that extend to the headlamp units. For improved visibility, the car offers projector headlamps for the low beam and halogen lamps for the high beam. Indicators are integrated into the headlamp cluster, and stylish DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) are positioned lower down. Fog lamps are also included for enhanced safety in adverse weather conditions. The car comes with a key that includes remote lock, unlock, and boot release functions.

Side View

From the side, the Tata Tiago showcases a sleek design. It boasts a ground clearance of 170mm, making it suitable for various road conditions. The car is equipped with two-wash wipers and a power antenna. You can choose from both single-tone and dual-tone color options, including White, Red, Grey, Blue, and the featured Midnight Plum. The XZ+ CNG variant comes with Hyperstyle steel wheels that are designed to look like alloys, adding to its premium appeal. The car offers a warranty of 2 years or 75,000 kilometers. Its dimensions are 3765mm in length, 1677mm in width, and 1535mm in height. The tires are sized 175/65 R14, with the Tata logo displayed on the wheels. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are finished in glossy black, feature auto-fold functionality when locking/unlocking the car, and include integrated turn indicators. The B-pillars are blacked out, and the door handles are finished in chrome. The fuel filler cap, which accommodates both petrol and CNG, is conveniently located on the side pillar. The iCNG models prioritize safety, with a sensor that prevents the car from starting if the fuel cap is open.

Rear Styling

The rear profile of the Tiago features a central Tata logo and a “Tiago” badge. A dedicated spot is provided for the reverse parking camera, along with a chrome strip that adds a touch of elegance. The “iCNG” badge highlights its intelligent CNG technology. The tail lights are halogen units, and the car includes a rear wiper, defogger, and a high-mount stop lamp. Black bumper reflectors are present. It’s important to note that the top variants do not feature reverse parking sensors. The rear suspension setup and exhaust pipe are visible below.

Safety First: A 4-Star Rating

Safety is a key highlight of the Tata Tiago. This hatchback has received a commendable 4-star safety rating in crash tests, ensuring a secure driving experience for its occupants. This strong build quality and safety performance make it a reliable choice in its segment.

Fueling Up and Boot Space

The Tiago XZ+ CNG comes with both petrol and CNG fuel options. The petrol tank has a capacity of 35 liters. The CNG tank can hold approximately 8-9 kg of gas, depending on the pump pressure. Due to the placement of the CNG tank, the boot space is significantly reduced. While the petrol variant offers 242 liters of boot space, the CNG version has almost no usable boot space. A parcel tray is provided, and the spare wheel, which is slightly smaller, is located beneath the boot area.

Comfortable and Tech-Rich Interior

Door Panels and Controls

The car’s interior features dual-tone door panels. The driver’s door includes controls for all four power windows, a glass lock button, chrome door openers, and controls for adjusting the ORVMs. Each door also houses a speaker and a bottle holder.

Driver’s Cockpit

Inside, the Tiago offers a digital instrument cluster that displays crucial information such as CNG and petrol fuel levels, trip meters (A and B), odometer, and outside temperature. The dual-tone dashboard creates a modern ambiance. The multi-function steering wheel features the Tata logo and controls for the infotainment and telephone systems. The steering wheel is also tilt-adjustable for driver comfort. Controls for wipers and headlamps are located on the steering column.

Center Console and Infotainment

The center console is well-designed with black AC vents surrounded by chrome inserts. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered by Harman, is a highlight. It supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, and AUX connectivity, delivering audio through a combination of four speakers and four tweeters. The display also doubles as a screen for the reverse parking camera. Other features include a hazard light button and a convenient switch to convert between CNG and petrol mode. A notable feature is the ability to start the car directly in CNG mode. The Tiago XZ+ CNG boasts a fully automatic climate control system for optimal cabin temperature. The console area also features a glossy black finish, a USB port, a 12V charging outlet, and ample storage space for a phone and other small items. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox (the petrol variant also offers an automatic option). A handbrake and two cup holders complete the setup. The glovebox is spacious and includes a tablet holder.

Seating and Rear Comfort

The car comes with two keys, one remote with central locking and one manual. The seats are upholstered in fabric with the signature Tri-Arrow design. The rear door panels also feature chrome door openers, a speaker, and a bottle holder. Rear passengers will find decent legroom, but the car does not offer rear AC vents or a rear armrest. Grab handles and small storage pockets are provided for convenience. The adjustable IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror) adds to the driver’s comfort. The driver’s sun visor includes a ticket holder, while the passenger’s sun visor has a vanity mirror.

Engine Performance and Efficiency

The Tata Tiago XZ+ CNG is powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine.

  • Petrol Mode: It produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque.
  • CNG Mode: When running on CNG, the engine delivers 72 BHP of power and 95 Nm of torque, offering an impressive mileage of approximately 26 km/kg.

Key Features and Competition

The Tata Tiago XZ+ CNG is equipped with several important features, including dual airbags, central locking, auto door lock, a reverse parking camera, seat belt warning, and a speed alert system, all contributing to its 4-star safety rating.

In the Indian market, the Tata Tiago competes with popular hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Maruti Swift, and Hyundai Nios, offering a strong alternative with its robust build quality and intelligent CNG technology.
