Tata Tigor XZ+ Uncovered: A 4-Star Safe Sedan with Top Features

The Tata Tigor is a top choice in its sedan segment. It is known as a 4-star rated safe car. You can find the Tigor XZ+ top model, shown here in white petrol. A CNG variant is also available.

Key Highlights and Safety

What sets the Tigor apart from other cars in its segment is its strong 4-star build quality. It also features comfortable leather seats, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. These features are not always found in other cars in this category.

Exterior Design and Features

The Tigor has an attractive look. The front features the Tata logo and a stylish chrome grill with a gloss black finish. It comes with projector automatic headlamps; the low beam uses a projector, and the high beam uses a halogen bulb. Indicators are placed within the headlamps. Fog lamps and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are also present. The car offers a good ground clearance of 170 millimeters.

Side Profile and Wheels

From the side, the Tigor features stylish 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It comes with a 3-year or 1 lakh kilometer warranty, which can be extended. The front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear wheels have drum brakes. The tire size is 175/60 R15 radial. The side mirrors are glossy black, include indicators, and are electrically adjustable and foldable.

Comfortable and Feature-Rich Interior

The smart key allows you to lock, unlock, and open the boot. It also has a follow-me-home function. Inside, the dashboard has a dual-tone finish. The car features excellent quality leather seats. It has an automatic climate control system.

The digital instrument cluster provides information like trip details, average mileage, range, outside temperature, and even a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and includes controls for cruise control, phone calls, and infotainment. The steering wheel can be tilted for adjustment. Automatic headlamp and rain-sensing wiper controls are also present.

A 7-inch touchscreen, powered by Harman, is available, though it currently lacks Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A reverse parking camera is included. Below the screen, you’ll find USB A and C ports, along with a 12-volt charging outlet. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, and an automatic option is also available. There are two glass holders and a manual handbrake. Standard safety features include two airbags (for the driver and co-driver). The glove box is cooled and includes a tablet holder.

Spacious Rear Seating

The rear door trim is dual-tone and includes power window controls, a door opener, speaker, and bottle holder. The rear seats are also made of excellent leather and come with child seat mounts. While there are no dedicated rear AC vents, the car’s cooling is effective even in the back. There is a bottle holder, seat pockets, good legroom, knee room, and thigh support. Rear passengers get two fixed headrests, an armrest with two glass holders, and three seat belts.

Practical Boot Space

The Tigor offers a spacious boot capacity of 419 liters (approximately 420 liters). It includes a boot light. The spare tire is a 13-inch steel rim, which is two sizes smaller than the main tires. A toolkit, jack, and spanner are also stored here. For the CNG variant, twin cylinders are located in the boot. A key benefit of the Tigor’s boot design is the hydraulic supports, which prevent luggage from getting stuck, unlike some other cars in the segment.

Performance and Mileage

The Tigor is powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This engine delivers 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The petrol variant offers a mileage of approximately 20 kmpl. The CNG variant provides about 26 kmpl, with slightly lower power output.

Dimensions and Pricing

The Tata Tigor measures 3993 millimeters in length, 1677 millimeters in width, and 1532 millimeters in height. The base model starts at around 6 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top model can go up to 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tigor XZ+ petrol top model is priced at approximately 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom), reaching around 8.90 lakh on-road. The CNG top model will have roughly a 1 lakh price difference compared to the petrol top model.

Advanced Safety Features

The Tigor is equipped with several safety features, including ABS with EBD, two airbags, reverse parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, a speed alert system, seat belt reminders, an engine immobilizer, crash sensors, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.

The Tata Tigor stands out with its 4-star safety rating, comfortable leather seats, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, digital instrument cluster, and TPMS. It combines safety, comfort, and advanced features, making it a strong contender in its segment.
