Maruti Brezza 2023: Exploring the LXi Base Model and Beyond
The Maruti Brezza 2023 is a popular compact SUV. Even its LXi base model offers an impressive look and feel, making it hard to believe it’s an entry-level variant. A significant update for the 2023 model year is the addition of a CNG fuel option, alongside the existing petrol engine.
Pricing and Variants
The Brezza 2023 is available in four variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The LXi base model starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹8,29,000, with its on-road price approximately ₹9,50,000. If you choose the LXi CNG variant, the ex-showroom price is ₹9,24,000, and the on-road price is around ₹10,55,000. Top models can reach an on-road price of about ₹14,50,000 to ₹15,00,000. One benefit of the base model is the flexibility to add modifications later.
The Brezza competes with other compact SUVs like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. It stands out in its segment due to its muscular looks and good mileage.
Exterior Design
The Brezza 2023 has a strong and appealing front design. The Suzuki logo is centrally placed, and chrome accents are offered from the base model. The LXi model comes with projector headlights. Turn indicators are positioned below the headlights. Fog lamps are not available in the base model. The lower grille is fully blacked out, with a merged skid plate that continues underneath the car. The Brezza 2023 offers a good ground clearance of 200 mm.
Dimensions and Side Profile
The car measures 3995 millimeters in length, 1790 millimeters in width, and 1685 millimeters in height. The wheelbase remains 2500 millimeters. From the side, the base model maintains a premium look, with body-colored door handles and body-colored outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) that also house the turn indicators. Wheel covers are fitted on 16-inch steel wheels. The front wheels have disc brakes, while the rear wheels feature drum brakes. The tires are MRF brand, sized 215/60 R16.
The roof of the base model is plain, while higher variants like the ZXi and ZXi+ offer a sunroof. The car is equipped with dual wipers. It also comes with a warranty of 2 years or 40,000 kilometers.
Rear Design and Boot Space
The rear profile of the Brezza is distinctive, often compared to the Range Rover. It features LED taillights, a prominent Suzuki logo, and a large “Brezza” badge in the center. The Smart Hybrid badging is also present on the rear.
The boot space measures 328 liters, which is suitable for the segment. A parcel tray needs to be added as an accessory. The spare wheel is located below the boot floor and is also a 16-inch steel wheel with the same tire size. A tool kit is stored alongside the spare wheel.
Interior Features
The dashboard of the Brezza features an all-black theme. In the LXi base model, an audio system with a touch interface has been installed. The fuel tank capacity is 40 liters.
The car comes with a remote central locking key. The driver’s side door panel is black and includes controls for all four power windows, as well as adjustments for the ORVMs. Door open handles are black. Bottle holders and speakers need to be installed later as accessories.
The seats are made of fabric, and seat covers are added accessories. The car features ABC pedals and options for AGS (Automatic Gear Shift) are also available. The base model includes levers for opening the bonnet and fuel flap. Manual controls are present for the air conditioning system. A 12V charging socket is available. The car comes with a manual gearbox, a handbrake, and two cup holders. The glove box offers decent storage space, and a USB connection is provided for pen drives.
The instrument cluster features an RPM meter and a speedometer with markings up to 220. The Multi-Information Display (MID) provides various details such as fuel gauge, temperature, trip average, mileage, and range. The steering wheel carries the Suzuki logo and is tilt-adjustable. Mounted controls are not present in the base model with an added audio system.
In the second row, the door panels are also black with power window controls and bottle holders. Child locks are included in the rear doors. Headrests are not available in the base model and need to be added later as accessories. Rear passengers benefit from good legroom and knee room. Grab handles and hooks are provided. Seat pockets are also present in the seat covers.
Engine and Performance
The Brezza 2023 offers two engine options:
- Petrol Engine: A 1.5-liter K15C Smart Hybrid engine. This engine produces 101 BHP of power and 137 Nm of torque, offering a mileage of 20 kilometers per liter.
- CNG Engine: This option provides 86 BHP of power and 121 Nm of torque, with an impressive mileage of 25 kilometers per liter.
